Disappointing experience after a great first visit I visited Casa Lolea last year while in Barcelona and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t anything mind-blowing, but the food was tasty, the atmosphere was lovely, and the sangria was genuinely the best I’d ever had. So when I came back to Barcelona, I was very excited to return on Friday night. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience. It started off really well — the sangria was still great and the vibes were lovely. But the tapas were, honestly, some of the most disappointing I’ve ever had. The patatas bravas were essentially boiled baby potatoes with a huge amount of sauce on top. No crispiness, no spice, and very little flavour. The potato salad with tuna belly was also nothing like what I expected. I was imagining delicious tuna with a tangy, well-seasoned potato salad, but it tasted more like a basic meal-prep tuna salad made with tinned tuna. Again, very little seasoning or flavour. Finally, the salmon toast was completely tasteless — it genuinely seemed like there wasn’t even a tiny bit of salt on it, and it was something I felt I could have easily made at home. What made it even more disappointing was that the waitress never asked how we found the food or whether we were enjoying it. I’m genuinely sad to leave a negative review because I had such a nice experience here last year and had read so many great reviews before returning. The sangria and atmosphere are still lovely, but unfortunately the food on this visit was incredibly underwhelming. I really hope it was just an off night, because I had been looking forward to coming back.
I was impressed not only by the high quality of the food but also by the friendly service from the staff. The truffle pasta risotto, in particular, is an unforgettable dish I've ever had. Although it's a long journey, I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.
Everything was wonderful, truly!! The music, the food, the service...but especially...Brenda!! A gem!!!
TLDR Atmosphere: 5/5 Food: 3/5 Service: wish I could rate 0/5 Really disappointed to write this negative review, however I cannot overlook the unprofessionalism we experienced this afternoon. After spending €48 for five tapas and two sparkling waters, we spent an additional €12.80 purchasing a bottle of their sangria as a gift. The staff provided us a cold bottle in a paper bag on a 35 celsius day.. which of course bled through the bag almost immediately at our next location and shattered on the floor of another shop, covering us, the workers, and other patrons in red wine. When we went back to Casa Lolea to explain the situation and ask if there was a possibility to get another bottle, the staff openly laughed at us and refused to help. It more than soured our final afternoon in Barcelona on an otherwise lovely week long trip in Catalonia.
A little expensive but very good
OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! everything was 1000/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! The staff was pretty, friendly and veeeery kind!!! WELL DONE GIRLS !!!
