A Saturday in Córdoba starts slowly: craft stalls and old furniture along the streets of Barrio Güemes, a fernet con coca in a plastic cup that's darker than it should be, and somewhere a car stereo playing cuarteto, the city's own bouncy dance music. The night starts late and runs later. Argentina's second city is a university town with a young, relaxed crowd, but its cruising scene is small and centred on a handful of indoor places in the city centre: one new fetish bar, one adult cinema with mixed reviews and two modest saunas. There's also a big park with an old reputation, which you should know about before you go anywhere near it at night.
Legal in one line: sex between men is legal in Argentina, which in 2010 became the first country in Latin America to legalise same-sex marriage and in 2012 passed a pioneering gender identity law. Bars, cinemas and saunas with dark rooms are private businesses; sex in public places is a separate matter, covered by the Penal Code and Córdoba's Código de Convivencia (see below).
How cruising works in Córdoba
Córdoba is not Buenos Aires. There's no cluster of cruise bars, and most men meet on Grindr or on the dance floor at Zen Disco on a Friday or Saturday. What the city does have is all in or near the centre, within a short taxi ride of each other: Tom Bar for a dressed-up night with a fetish edge, Cine TAO for an anonymous afternoon, and two saunas that are busiest in the evenings and on Sundays. All of them are cash-friendly rather than card-friendly, so bring pesos.
Indoor venues

Tom Bar · Santiago del Estero 90, Centro
The newest and most deliberate addition to the scene. Tom Bar opened on 15 June 2025, founded by Marcos Boffito and Javier Delamer, who previously organised leather and fetish events in Buenos Aires. The business paper InfoNegocios called it Córdoba's first gay bar with a cruising atmosphere. The founders say they took inspiration from Berlin's New Action and the Eagle bars, and that they wanted "something raw and adult".
It's for gay men only, cis and trans, over 18, in a space of about 195 m² with a capacity of 67. Expect signature cocktails, electronic music from resident DJs, low light, a fetish room and dark areas where you can watch, join in or just have a drink. Some nights have a dress code: leather, latex, sportswear, work gear or puppy play. There's no stage, no drag and no glitter. Security staff are trained to step in if something isn't consensual, phone use is restricted in some areas, and photos need everyone's consent. Its own link page also gives the address as Santiago del Estero 100; hours aren't published, so check its Instagram or WhatsApp (via linktr.ee/tombarcba) for the week's theme before you go.
Cine TAO · Rivadavia 219, Centro
A gay adult cinema, the kind Argentines call a cine condicionado, with screening rooms, a small bar and cruising in the dark. It's a few blocks from the main square and works for an anonymous drop-in in the afternoon or evening. Be ready for a no-frills place. Google reviews from 2025 and 2026 are split: some visitors praise respectful staff and a relaxed crowd, others complain about dirty toilets, smoking everywhere, no air conditioning and little privacy. A 2024 reviewer asked when it would reopen after a municipal closure, but reviewers were back inside by 2025 and still posting in March and April 2026. There's no published price list or timetable; phone 0351 423-2865 or check its Facebook page (taosex.cordoba), and bring cash.
The two saunas
Córdoba's saunas are small, men-only and better for a slow afternoon than a big night. Both have dark areas and cabins, so cruising is part of the deal. For more detail, see our Córdoba saunas page.
- Club 466 (Tucumán 466): wet and dry saunas, a steam room, a darkroom and labyrinth, cabins, a bar and a small terrace. Recent Google reviews are mostly positive about the staff and the wet and dry saunas; one 2025 reviewer said they were better than some in Buenos Aires, while others have found the steam weak and the terrace tired. A May 2026 reviewer called it "very busy on Sundays", and another said there weren't enough lockers. Smoking is allowed in parts of the building. Entry was about ARS 8,000 in April 2025, cash only (a reviewer was refused a debit card); expect it to have risen.
- H.Edon (Jujuy 510): a basement sauna with cabins, a darkroom and a small bar, known for late sessions announced in its Facebook group. Reviews from 2025 and 2026 are the weaker of the two: friendly bar staff and affordable prices (around ARS 10,000 in April 2026), but repeated complaints about cleanliness and upkeep, and a May 2026 reviewer found no working wet or dry sauna. One 2025 reviewer reported a locker break-in. Phone 0351 806-7271 before you go.
- Cash: bring Argentine pesos. The saunas and the cinema work mainly or only in cash, and prices rise quickly with inflation, so treat any figure here as a guide.
- Getting around: everything on this page is in or near the centre. At night, use a taxi or a ride-hailing app from door to door rather than walking, especially near the park.
- Lockers: lock everything away in the saunas, and keep your phone in your pocket or locker at Cine TAO.
- Phones and photos: no photos inside cruise spaces; Tom Bar restricts phones in some areas.
- Apps: Grindr is the main app in Argentina and the most common way men meet in Córdoba.
- Health: condoms are your job, not the venue's. If one breaks, PEP must start within 72 hours: go to the guardia (emergency department) of a public hospital. HIV testing is free in Argentina's public health system.
- Consent: "no" is enough, in any room, at any time.
- ¿Cuánto sale la entrada? – how much is entry?
- casillero – locker. toalla – towel. efectivo – cash.
- cine condicionado – adult cinema.
- boliche – nightclub. previa – pre-drinks.
- chongo – a masculine guy, or a casual hookup.
- fernandito – a fernet and Coke.
- tonada – the famous sing-song Córdoba accent, with its stretched vowels.
- culiao – the city's all-purpose swear word, used for friends and enemies alike; best heard, not attempted.
Outdoors: Parque Sarmiento
Parque Sarmiento is the big park next to Nueva Córdoba, laid out by the landscape architect Carlos Thays, with the Teatro Griego, the zoo, a lake and long wooded paths. By day it belongs to joggers, families, students and mate drinkers. It has long had a reputation as an outdoor cruising area after dark, in the wooded parts around the Teatro Griego, but it's an open public space, not a venue, and there's no organised scene to find.
The law on public sex: under Article 129 of Argentina's Penal Code, anyone who performs obscene exhibitions that third parties may see involuntarily commits an offence punishable by a fine, and by prison of six months to four years if minors are involved. Córdoba's Código de Convivencia Ciudadana (Ley 10.326, in force since 1 April 2016) adds a local contravention: Article 52 punishes actos contrarios a la decencia pública (acts against public decency) in public places with up to three days of community work, a fine of up to 6 units or up to three days' arrest, doubled during civic, religious or patriotic festivities. Being gay in the park is legal. Having sex where others can see you is not.
Safety: the park is patrolled and covered by the police's 911 video cameras, and local press have reported several robos piraña, where groups of teenagers surround and rob a lone walker, in and around the park at night: one in August 2022 caught on camera, and 24 arrests after another wave in Nueva Córdoba and the park in March 2023. If you go, go with your eyes open: leave your phone, watch and cards at the hotel, carry a little cash only, don't follow strangers into dark areas, and take a taxi or app car out rather than walking through the park late.
Closed or unconfirmed: we found no Córdoba cruising venue that closed in 2025–2026. Cine TAO was reported closed by the city for a period in 2024 but has been trading again since 2025. Venue hours in Córdoba change often, so check recent Google reviews or social media before you go.
Local colour: fernet, cuarteto and Güemes
Fernet con coca is Córdoba in a glass: the bitter Italian herbal liqueur topped with cola, poured strong and drunk everywhere from house parties to football grounds. Locals call it fernet or a fernandito, and offering one is how a previa (pre-drinks) begins. Cuarteto, Córdoba's own fast, accordion-and-keyboard dance music, is the soundtrack of the city's working-class dance halls; you'll hear La Mona Jiménez and Rodrigo on taxi radios long before you hear them in a gay bar. Barrio Güemes, just south-west of the centre, is the bohemian quarter, with antique shops, a weekend craft market and plenty of bars, and is the easiest place to start a night out. See our Córdoba bars guide for Zen Disco, X-Bar and the rest of the scene.
Practical tips
Pride
Córdoba's Marcha del Orgullo is held in November. The 16th edition, on Saturday 16 November 2024, began with a fair and health services in Parque Las Heras, then marched along Bulevar Las Heras, General Paz, Vélez Sarsfield and Hipólito Yrigoyen to a closing festival at the Buen Pastor, under the slogan "Sin Estado no hay derechos" ("Without the State there are no rights"). The 18th march is planned for late November 2026, with listings pointing to Saturday 21 November and an afternoon gathering at Parque Las Heras; confirm the date and route with the organisers nearer the time. Expect the bars, Tom Bar and the saunas to be at their busiest that weekend.

Yes, in effect. It opened in June 2025 as a bar for gay men over 18, with signature cocktails, electronic music, a fetish room, dark areas and themed dress-code nights. There are no drag shows and no stage; it is a cocktail bar with cruising, not a nightclub.
Is Cine TAO in Córdoba still open?

Being gay in the park is legal; sex in public is not. Obscene exhibitions seen involuntarily by others are an offence under Article 129 of Argentina's Penal Code, and Córdoba's Código de Convivencia punishes acts against public decency with community work, a fine or up to three days' arrest.
