Steam Portland
The most frequented gay sauna in the city — spacious steam and dry saunas, private rooms, maze, gym, sun deck, lounge with pool table, and TVs. Open 24/7 on weekends, until 11pm on Sundays. Entry ($25) includes towel, locker, and sandals. Bear and Chub nights run regularly, plus blackout parties. Consistently well-regarded.
Hawks PDX
All-gender establishment — steam room, dry sauna, private rooms, dark room, video lounge, and a 420-friendly patio (Oregon being Oregon). Nude yoga on Sunday afternoons, TransSocial gatherings, and bear-themed nights. The most inclusive venue in Portland's sauna scene by a significant margin. $17 for eight hours on event nights.
The Velvet Rope
Members-only club with steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, play area, private rooms, and a dance floor. LGBTQ+ nights and themed parties throughout the week. The dance floor element sets it apart from more traditional sauna formats.
Portland's Gay Scene
Portland's LGBTQ+ scene is spread across the city rather than concentrated in one district. The Burnside/SE area has several bars and venues. Portland Pride Waterfront Festival is in July and is a large event by Pacific Northwest standards. The city has a strong queer arts and performance culture year-round — drag shows, queer film nights, and alternative events complement the bar and sauna scene.
