Guide · Brussels

Brussels has a solid gay sauna scene — five or six legitimate venues, several of them long-established, concentrated around the city centre and the Saint-Jacques gay district. The saunas connect directly to the nightlife: La Démence, the massive monthly gay dance party, sends overflow crowds to Sauna Macho on Sunday mornings.

Sauna Macho

The most established venue — running since 1983. Multiple levels with steam rooms, dry saunas, jacuzzi, dark rooms, and a terrace. The bar serves food. Famous for the Sunday morning after-party crowd following La Démence, when it fills with people extending their weekend. Bear & Friends and Underwear Night are the recurring themed events.

Rue du Marché au Charbon 106, 1000 Brussels
Open seven days a week

Sauna Oasis

Housed in a renovated neoclassical mansion on three floors — probably the most atmospheric venue in the city. Steam room, dry sauna, darkroom, private cabins, and rooftop terrace. Recently renovated. Themed nights include Naked Sundays, Bear afternoons, and Naturist days.

Rue Van Orley 10, 1000 Brussels
Open daily

Club 3000

Slightly further out in Saint Gilles — steam room, dry sauna, large jacuzzi, private cabins, cinema room, and bar. Known for Black Out Night and Youngsters Day (under-30 events). A bit more party-oriented than the other venues.

Boulevard Jamar 9, 1060 Saint Gilles
Open daily

Sauna La Griffe

A smaller, more intimate venue attracting a mature clientele. Wet and dry saunas, video room. Turkish steam bath is particularly well-regarded. Closed Tuesdays.

Sauna Spades4our

Modern facility in the city centre — steam room, dry sauna, plunge pool, private cabins, and lounge area. Open daily.

Rue Bodeghem 23-25, 1000 Brussels

The Gay Bar Scene & La Démence

The Saint-Jacques district (around Rue du Marché au Charbon) has the concentrated bar scene — drag venues, clubs, and bars within walking distance of each other. La Démence is the major event: a monthly dance party at Fuse club, typically first Saturday of the month, drawing thousands across three floors. The Sunday morning after this is when Sauna Macho is at its absolute busiest. Brussels Pride in May is a major annual event — in 2024 it received UNESCO recognition as intangible cultural heritage.
