Fat Margaret's Hostel

My time there was comfortable. The hostel is nothing overly fancy, but it is clean, well maintained and comfortable. That being said, the showers could use a better deep clean and declogging. (At least on the second floor) The kitchen is well equipped, clean and has a coffee station. The common area is cozy. There are more toilets and showers downstairs. There is also a sauna. It is a very decent place, more than acceptable especially for the price. I would (and already have) recommended as a place to stay. Enjoy

DISCLAIMER - We rented a twin room with private bathroom. This is a hostel and I get how it could be good for people paying 16eur for their stay. There are complimentary waffles and sauna/pool use in the morning and that is probably nice. We paid 238eur for 3 night stay for a shoebox of a room that was on the ground floor and it was very close to the street. The room was stuffy, there was no air or AC, the only way was to have the window open at all times which felt very unsafe, but desperate times and all that. You get only 1 towel, and need to pay for a new one extra. The only toiletries you get are tiny soaps but you can of course pay to get that as well at the front desk. You do not have a hair dryer in the room, you have to go to the front desk and ask to borrow it - if they are all taken, oh, well, sleep with wet hair. The room was vacuumed god knows when, and the shower door is falling apart. The value we got for our money was AWFUL!!!!! The audacity to charge 80 eur a night for what we got is crazy to me. The location is truly great, but it is not worth it, Tallin is not a big city, it is super walkable.

Excellent location right across the street from the gate to old town and 5 min walk from grocery store! My husband and I stayed here 2x in a private room and loved it! Very clean! The kitchen is super clean and organized! The staff is very polite and helpful! We enjoyed using the sauna for free in the morning and meeting lots of friendly travelers! We got in early to Tallin so we were able to leave our bags safe until check in at 3pm.

The sauna and pool are great!

It's very close to the pier, and there's a Rimi supermarket nearby that's open until 10 PM, making it very convenient if you're taking a boat to Finland. The price isn't the cheapest, but it's not expensive either. There's a kitchen downstairs and a sauna available in the morning (which I didn't use). They also offer free pancake batter starting at 9 AM, but since many people use it and I was in a hurry, I didn't bother. In the summer, the room was a bit stuffy, so I had to keep the window open to cool it down. The Wi-Fi speed was fairly fast, and there's a luggage room. Overall, there's not much to complain about; it's a pretty good accommodation option!
