Would book again. Close to the old town, check-in possible even after midnight, check-out very straightforward. Pleasant atmosphere, clean, well-equipped shared kitchen and common room, supermarket nearby, quick access to the harbor or for a swim. I was traveling alone and booked a bed in a 4-bed female dormitory. Towel, bed linen, and a lockable wardrobe were included. Unfortunately, I couldn't use the waffle breakfast, sauna, or cold plunge pool (which were a deciding factor in choosing this accommodation). The only thing I missed was a small shelf by the bed for my glasses. You have to be prepared for shared toilets and showers in the hallway or basement (although the shower on my floor wasn't open until my last day). I stayed a total of 5 nights.
Honest opinion this place is good for a back packer and those people that cook during their holiday. And also to inform they do not have elevator, if you have a large and heavy luggage do not book in this place. I wouldn't recommend.
Great place for staying near to city center. Clean, comfortable and very nice
I stayed here for six nights total, and I'd happily stay more nights if I'm ever back in Tallinn. The hostel itself is beautiful, in an old building that's clearly been remodeled recently. Upon check in, you receive a locker and key that goes with your bed. Although there are no curtains on the beds, they're spaced out such that there's no real privacy concerns. The clientele seems mostly older at Fat Margaret's anyways, so it's pretty quiet after 10pm or so. There's not really any street noise or anything either, and the location is optimal - walking distance from the old town, ferry terminal, and bus/train station, as well as connectivity with trams and buses. Though I woke up too late for the free waffles most days, they were delicious when I did try them. The common room is nice and quiet - I attended a multi-hour university orientation Zoom meeting from there with no Wifi problems or distractions. The staff are another positive point at Fat Margaret's. There was one night I thought I'd booked that I actually didn't, and they were patient with me when I couldn't check out on time. Pille even found other hostel options for me and recommended restaurants and cafes nearby. Amazing service for any place, especially for $20ish per night. Fat Margaret's will provide comfort, safety, good sleep, and extra services like the waffles and sauna, for an unbeatable price. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Stayed here twice - once in a double room and once in a dorm. Very polite staff. Loved the kitchen area as it was possible to make your own lunch/dinner. Would book again if i travel to tallinn again
