In April, my daughter, my granddaughter and I took a girl's trip to Morehead Manor . It was so lovely. Daniel&Monica were so fun and took their time to chat and get to know their guest. We met other guest and everyone was so friendly. If you have not been there, take time and go to Morehead Manor. You will love it. Jo Anne, Jessica& Laila
We live nearby and have known about this place for a long time but never stayed here. They've been featured in magazines and TV shows so we booked a room on a Friday in February after my wife's birthday. The owners are a lovely African American couple and their decor is exquisite (they have an amazing coffee table in the living room area). When we mentioned we were sort of celebrating my wife's birthday, they upgraded us to a larger room. We enjoyed the grounds and even walked to downtown Durham for dinner. The neighborhood was mostly quiet, excepting a few sirens that you hear in any city and the sleep quality was good. We helped ourselves to some herbal tea and sat out on their porch at night. Breakfast next morning was delicious and we had a nice conversation with the husband. All in all, a lovely experience.
Wonderful old Dame in excellent shape of the era. Walking distance to DPAC and surrounding restaurants. Clean rooms and lots of assorted amenities inside and out. Breakfast was outstanding and this coming from a person with 50 years of experience in the hospitality business. They truly care here and will take your stay to heart.
Highly recommend staying at the Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast. We love Durham and typically stay in a hotel. I was looking for somewhere to stay, and stumbled across Morehead. I could not be happier that we found Morehead. Communication with Monica and Daniel (the innkeepers) started before we even arrived, helping us plan our trip. We arrived and Monica warmly greeted us and showed us around the inn. The innkeepers Monica and Daniel are the most welcoming friendly people. They happily shared their history as well as the history of Durham. They were happy to share suggestions and kept checking in on us to make sure we were comfortable and that we were enjoying ourselves. They truly made us feel at home. Breakfast is probably the biggest highlight. Monica makes the breakfast every morning. It's ridiculously delicious. The food and conversation with Daniel and Monica every morning was a major highlight. Plus they offer a beautiful selection of tea and have fresh coffee with all the things you could need for tea and coffee. The inn is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. We stayed in the Tiger room. It's incredibly spacious and comfortable. We were comfortable and enjoyed the room. We enjoyed sitting in the front room on the comfortable couch, where we were able to read and relax in the mornings. We were at ease watching movies in the room with the TV and were able to relax while streaming movies. The innkeepers have an awesome selection of movies but also have the ability to stream. There are several places inside and out to sit and relax and enjoy the environment. The inn is in a great location and we were able to walk to anywhere we wanted in Durham (only a 7 minute walk for us to Bulls Stadium). We will happily stay here anytime we visit Durham. No one enjoys when vacation is over, but it was incredibly hard to leave the inn and the wonderful innkeepers. The other guests we met seemed to be repeat visitors that absolutely loved Monica and Daniel. It is easy to understand why. The two are truly special people running a very special inn.

Peaceful, relaxing, and exactly what I needed. My mini staycation at Morehead Manor was such a beautiful experience. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to slow down, rest, and recharge. Monica and Daniel were wonderful hosts—so kind, attentive, and thoughtful. They truly make you feel at home while also creating a space that feels special and serene. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway to reset and take care of yourself, I highly recommend Morehead Manor. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
It was a 10. Such gracious hospitality and we enjoyed the Tiger Room! We loved all the windows in it and how roomy it was. We loved the original tile in the bathroom and the fainting couch. We even had a reading area outside of our room, with a refrigerator. The chocolate cake was mighty fine. The Icing on the cake though were the wind chimes. They were enchanting and the entire stay was magical. The host and hostess have the perfect fit for making one feel at home. Daniel and Monica are down to Earth and are very kind people. We have been to Durham so many times, but have never felt more at home there.
I can’t say enough about how enjoyable my experience was. From the greeting by the innkeepers, the food, the atmosphere, the food, the small touches, and did i mention the food!! I will recommend Morehead Manor to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat to refresh and relax!!
My wife and I spent three wonderful nights here. Breakfast-amazing and accommodating to our vegan diets Location- can’t be bear. Walkable to SO many bars, restaurants, and Durham culture. House- BOCCE! Full sized bocce court was cool. We were in the Jasmine room. You could kind of hear cars the first morning but I’m a light sleeper on the last two nights which were weekends I slept great. Games everywhere, a sitting room with tv and dvds, an awesome porch, outside swings. You would have to try to not relax Hosts- Daniel and Monica were great. Help and inviting without being intrusive and overwhelming. They have really interesting stories about Durham and have lived interesting lives. We for sure would stay again. If you’re going to see a Duke game as we did. This is a great spot for it. Go Duke 😀
Excellent hospitality, historic charm, and a great Durham location This was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast, and it turned out to be a very worthwhile experience for both of us. Morehead Manor is a well-run, black-owned historic property that offers a comfortable and welcoming stay in Durham. A few highlights from our visit: Welcoming Hosts: Monica and Daniel are outstanding hosts. They are highly attentive and genuinely care about making sure all your needs are met throughout your stay. A Great Perk: Daniel keeps a constant supply of his award-winning carrot cake in the fridge for guests, which was a fantastic bonus we both enjoyed. Well-Maintained History: The house is over 100 years old but excellently maintained. Everything works perfectly, and our room was comfortable and well-appointed. Engaging Breakfasts: Morning meals are a great social experience. When guests gather in the dining room, the hosts join the conversation, offering helpful local context and color about the Durham area. Nice Amenities: The grounds offer plenty to do, whether you want to unwind by one of the several fire pits or play a game of bocce ball. Convenient Location: The manor is just minutes from downtown Durham, and we loved that several good restaurants were within easy walking distance. Monica and Daniel do a wonderful job blending historic charm with great service. We highly recommend Morehead Manor for anyone visiting the area.
