-An Unforgettable Stay at Morehead Manor- I recently had the pleasure of staying in the Orchid Room at the Morehead Manor Bed & Breakfast in Durham, NC, for the second time. This visit was especially meaningful because I was there to celebrate the 103rd birthday of a beloved family member. Once again, I had the opportunity to experience the superb hospitality of Daniel & Monica, and they did not disappoint. They are truly wonderful hosts, and the love, warmth, and genuine care they consistently show their guests go far beyond expectations. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed, valued and completely at home. The ambiance of Morehead Manor is simply unforgettable. Every detail creates an atmosphere of southern comfort, and elegance, that make you want to stay forever. And then there is breakfast! Every meal Daniel & Monica prepared was absolutely delicious. What made it even more special was that they created a different menu every day. Each breakfast was a delightful experience in itself. Were it not for etiquette and a proper upbringing I would have literally licked the plate--and all ten fingers--after every meal! Daniel's homemade pastries deserve a special mention as well. He personally prepares them for the guests staying at the Manor. He made a hummingbird cake and his signature carrot cake for us and they were simply delicious. I absolutely loved the entire experience and feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to return to Morehead Manor. Daniel & Monica have created something truly special--a place where exceptional hospitality, delicious food, beautiful surroundings, and genuine warmth come together to make you feel like family. I wholeheartedly invite anyone reading this review to stay at Morehead Manor Bed & Breakfast. It's a fantastic choice for any occasion and I promise you will love it! Beverly
My wife & I loved our stay in this charming old house! We stayed here for the Garmin Durham Marathon. It was a reasonable walking distance (~1mi) to downtown Durham for the race expo and starting area. And, at least in 2026, the race course goes right by the manor, along Morehead Avenue. We felt so welcomed from the moment we walked in. Actually - even before we got there! I told Monica we would miss Saturday breakfast for the race, and she asked what we normally ate before a race. I told her we usually had bananas, peanut butter, and coffee. She made sure all of that was available for us so we didn't have to track it down on Friday night. We were so grateful for that accommodation! Morehead Manor is historic, and Monica and Daniel have kept much of it preserved while adding their own style. Our hosts were so kind and thoughtful. They were excited to share lots of recommendations around Durham and talk to us about literature, artwork (including some of Daniel's own paintings!), and their beloved cats. While we loved our stay at Morehead Manor, I want to note a couple things, especially for those sensitive to sound. Being an older building and preserved as it is, the windows & doors are thin. The floors creak. I could hear cars outside and other people in the common areas of the house, so it never felt totally private. For us, that was part of the charm. We felt like the whole experience was more communal. We talked to the other guests more than we normally would, even in another B&B. I loved it, but some people want more isolation. If you stay here, expect to feel like part of the family! If I have one regret, it's that we didn't have enough downtime in our trip to fully appreciate the house and hospitality. If I have two regrets, the second one is that I didn't take any photos of the Manor - just breakfast! In any case, I highly recommend Morehead Manor. We plan to stay here for the race next year, with a little extra time to enjoy the house and hopefully get to know our hosts a little better.
Beautiful accommodations, inside and out. Great location with welcoming, knowledgeable, kind innkeepers. Spent our third anniversary in the Magnolia Room which did not disappoint. No television in the room which lent to an intimate romantic setting. Sitting areas in two places of the room along with a full bath, lush towels and top of the line body wash and shampoo. The bath was even equipped with a toilet bowl night light! Snacks, water, sodas available along with good ole down home hospitality!! Breakfast was amazing each morning! Daniel and Monica were gracious enough to spend some time with us each morning. Comfortable from the beginning until it was time to leave. We will most certainly visit again. Not just for the room but for Daniel and Monica's company.
I was traveling from Western North Carolina to Williamsburg VA and decided to stop at Morehead Manor for the night and I’m so glad I did! The home is beautiful, my room was very comfortable as was the bed. And I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with Monica and Daniel! Monica prepared a delicious breakfast, too! I was later leaving than I planned because I hated to say goodbye! I hope my travels take me back to Durham and Morehead Manor.
We stopped in Durham to break up a long drive and I'm so glad that I chose Morehead Manor. The rooms and amenities are gorgeous. It was HOT and humid, so my favorite was the 7 head shower. I'm vegetarian, and I got meatless breakfast sausage links for breakfast. Treat yourself to the upgrade✨
I can’t say enough about how enjoyable my experience was. From the greeting by the innkeepers, the food, the atmosphere, the food, the small touches, and did i mention the food!! I will recommend Morehead Manor to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat to refresh and relax!!
We stayed at Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast from Friday through Sunday to celebrate my cousin's birthday, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Monica and Daniel were gracious hosts who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable, including thoughtfully catering to my dietary needs, which I truly appreciated. One of our favorite parts of the stay was lingering around the breakfast table, enjoying wonderful conversations with Monica and Daniel. Their warmth, genuine hospitality, and engaging stories made us feel like family and added a truly special touch to our experience One of the highlights of our weekend was celebrating my cousin's birthday with a delicious catered dinner at the manor, prepared by an amazing chef recommended by Monica and Daniel. Their recommendation was outstanding and made the celebration even more special. The manor itself is beautiful, full of charm and character, and our rooms were comfortable, spacious, and beautifully appointed. Every detail reflected the care and hospitality that Monica and Daniel put into creating a memorable guest experience. They even went to play Top Golf with us! If you're ever in the Durham area and are looking for a charming, elegant, and welcoming place to stay, I highly recommend Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast. You won't regret it! Denise & Glas Hall
