The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth

Quality hotel. Nice rooms and great location, right across the street from the village.

Very, very disappointed that dining room closed for renovation. That is why I picked this place. I was walking disabled but nice kitchen in our room so we drove to grocery store and made do.

A very nice hotel, modernly furnished. With a gym and pool. I enjoyed it very much.

Had not been to the property for 10 years and it was definitely showing its age. Rooms are very tired. It is undergoing renovations now but has a long way yo go. The restaurant closed for several months the day we arrived. We were not informed ahead of time. They charge a $25 resort fee despite the gym being the quality of a budget hotel and hot tub by the pool being closed. Housekeep is subpar. Upon arrival, the shampoo container that is usually mounted to the wall was on the tub floor and broken. I placed it on the side of the tub and it was never fixed doing the 3 day stay. They are still charging very high prices that the location commands, but there are likely better alternatives at that price.

Really good hotel! Beautiful room, stunning view and everything is big enough. I just think there is nothing to do in the area for more than a night. The restaurant at breakfast in the hotel is shocking but I would not recommend it, the food is not tasty at all.

I stayed at this place years and years ago. The vicinity to the village and the high quality rooms stand out!

From the moment we arrived, Alejandro was incredibly kind and welcoming. He greeted us with a smile and immediately made us feel at home. His friendly and professional attitude set the tone for our entire stay. Thanks to him, we felt comfortable and well taken care of right away. It’s rare to find customer service that feels this genuine. Alejandro went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this Hotel, and if you check in with Alejandro, you’re in great hands! The moment we walked into our room, we were blown away by how impeccably clean it was. Everything was spotless, perfectly organized, and had a fresh, pleasant smell that made the room feel so inviting. They clearly think of every detail — we had everything we needed without having to ask for anything. Everything was there and ready. They made us feel comfortable from the start. Our suite was spacious, spotless, and genuinely the most comfortable hotel room we’ve stayed in. The bed was heavenly — like sleeping on a cloud. We slept like rocks every night. The pool and hot tub were unmatched. Even with a chill in the July air, the pool was perfectly warm and the hot tub was the ideal temperature. The staff kept everything well maintained, and when a rowdy group of kids tried to sneak in, they handled it promptly and peace was restored before any chaos could unfold. Room service was fast and delicious — a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak. And the shower? Incredible water pressure and hot water almost instantly. It’s one of those things you forget matters until it’s bad — the Westin nailed it. The location is sublime: easy parking, right across from the Village and just a few miles from the Lakes Basin. The drive up to Lake Mary is stunning, and a dip in Horseshoe Lake was life-changing. The Westin Monache anticipated our every need before we even asked. Better than we could have hoped for. Thank you for a perfect stay!

We’ve been coming to Mammoth for many years and love it here. We generally try to stay at the Westin but have stayed at other properties depending on rates and availability. The location is great, especially if there is an event in the village or for access to Mammoth shuttles. The pool is pretty typical and occasionally has someone serving drinks at a walk up bar. It’s super nice to lounge at after a long hike or ride or just relaxation day. They have bike storage but it is kind of weird if you don’t book directly through Westin on how to use it. If you book through one of the independent owners the amenities are a little different and the front desk treats you a bit differently and depending who you speak to will determine if you can store your bike…definitely a poor guest experience but we’ve dealt with that the last couple of stays. Generally the staff and everyone we interact with is pretty cool, we get the typical awkward interaction every now and then but overall no complaints and compliments as they deal with all kinds of people all the time. They recently opened a little coffee shop which is a nice addition but they stopped having fresh and free coffee in the lobby which is a bummer. Was nice to grab a quick cup in the morning, now they have $5 small drip coffee. Good times lol We don’t ever really eat at the restaurant on site but occasionally have a drink at the bar and have hung out and played cards earlier in the evening before the dinner crowd hits. Overall, we definitely keep coming back and love it here. There are other properties popping up all over nearby (and next door). So it will be interesting to see how those are in comparison in the future. But as long as the rates are competitive and they continue to maintain the property (as they are doing now you the lobby), we will keep coming back.
