Il Provincetown Carnival è il singolo evento più grande del calendario gay di Provincetown — una settimana di feste a tema, inaugurazioni, eventi in costume e momenti di strada che culminano in una parata lungo Commercial Street, con 60.000 persone in una città di 3.000 abitanti. Si tiene nella terza settimana di agosto e va avanti dal 1978. Ogni anno propone un tema — passati: Hollywood, supereroi, royalty, sotto il mare — e concorrenti, costumi e carri sono espressioni elaborate del tema, dall'ingegnoso allo spettacolare. La parata percorre Commercial Street dall'East End al West End, circa tre chilometri, con spettatori in fila su tre o quattro file. La settimana include tea dance ufficiali al Boatslip, serate a tema all'A-House e al Crown & Anchor, e la moltiplicazione di energia di 60.000 visitatori in una città costruita per 3.000.
