Milan does its sinning on a timetable. At seven the bars around Porta Venezia fill with Spritz glasses and bowls of crisps, at half past midnight the last metro trains rattle out of Centrale, and somewhere behind a buzzer on a side street off the station, a door that never closes is just getting busy. The city's scene is almost entirely indoors: a 24-hour cruise club near Centrale, a cluster of clubs and a sauna out in Cimiano, a leather bar or two, and four men's saunas spread across the north and east of the city. The big central park has a reputation, but it is fenced and locked at night. Here is what is open in 2026, what you need at the door, and where the law draws the line.
Legal in one line: sex between men is legal in Italy and same-sex civil unions have existed since 2016, though not full marriage; private gay clubs with darkrooms operate legally as members' associations. Sex in public is different: atti osceni (obscene acts) in a public place carry an administrative fine of €5,000 to €30,000, and remain a crime, punishable by four months to four and a half years in prison, in or near places where minors are usually present.
The card you'll need: every club and sauna in this guide is a private association (circolo privato), and ARCO, the Italian network of gay clubs, lists each of them as requiring ARCO membership. You join at the door before you go in, showing photo ID. ARCO's standard AllClubs card is valid for a year at its member clubs across Italy; if you are not an Italian citizen, ask for the ARCO Travel card, which carries a reduced fee and is valid for 90 days. Some clubs also issue a cheaper OneClub card valid only at that venue. Fees are set by each club and not every club issues every card, so ask at the first door and keep the card for the rest of your trip. Some older listings still mention ANDDOS cards; the ARCO directory is the current reference.
Cruise clubs
Illumined · Via Napo Torriani 12, near Milano Centrale
A few minutes' walk from Centrale station, Illumined is the club that never shuts: ARCO lists it as open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, on three levels, and its ARCO page calls it "the largest cruising club in Italy". Travel Gay describes a ground-floor bar, a labyrinth in the basement, an upper floor with a dress code, cabins, a darkroom and glory holes, and says it is popular with younger men. Its round-the-clock hours make it a handy stop if you arrive on a late train.
Prices: Travel Gay gives admission as around €10, plus the card; check at the desk. Phone +39 02 6698 5060.

Hot Dog Club · Via Oropa 3, Cimiano
Out in the north-east near the M2 (green line), Hot Dog Club is, in ARCO's words, "a gay cruising club for men" on several floors. It runs casual nights with no dress code alongside Naked and Fetish nights, the all-fetish X-Strong, a Sauna Night, and events with groups such as Leather Friends Italia and The Italian Puppy. The entrance has information on STIs and testing in Milan, and the club hosts rapid HIV and syphilis testing evenings with local organisations.
Hours (ARCO): Tuesday and Wednesday 21:00–02:00, Thursday to Saturday 21:00–04:00; closed Sunday and Monday. Check the programme on hotdogclubmilano.it before you go, as the theme sets the dress code.
Company Club · Via Benadir 14, Cimiano
A short walk from Cimiano metro (M2), Company was founded in 1994 and ARCO describes it as a social association with "particular attention to the bear community". It works as a bear-focused bar and club. Hours (ARCO): Thursday 21:00–03:00, Friday 21:00–05:00, Saturday 21:00–04:00, Sunday 19:00–02:00; closed Monday to Wednesday. Hot Dog Club and the Fenix sauna are in the same district, so Cimiano works as a one-trip evening.

Depot · Via dei Valtorta 19, north-east Milan
ARCO is clear that Depot is "not a privé but a leather bar": brick, metal, black leather and steel, with a raw, dark atmosphere that ARCO admits people either love or hate. Hours (ARCO): Tuesday 21:00–02:00, Thursday 22:00–02:00, Friday 22:00–04:00, Saturday 22:00–05:00, and a Sunday afternoon session from 15:00 to 21:00; closed Monday and Wednesday. Dress the part on fetish nights; details on depotmilano.com.
Bangalov · Via Calabria 5, north-west of the centre
Bangalov describes itself as a club with a "metropolitan atmosphere and a northern European concept": two levels, a bar, a smoking room, few booths and big open areas. It is the sponsor and official club of Leather & Fetish Milano. Parties are either men-only or open to all genders, and the dress code changes with the night, so check bangalov.com for the theme. Hours (ARCO): Tuesday 22:00–02:30, Thursday and Friday 22:00–02:00, Saturday 22:00–03:00.

Nautilus Club Privé · Via Mondovì 7
Nautilus is a different animal: a club privé run by the Associazione Mondovì, which bills itself as "the most transgressive privé club in Milan". It is not a men-only cruise club; nights vary, and visitors report shows, a buffet and themed evenings, with couples' nights that are less welcoming to single men. ARCO lists it open 22:00–04:00 every night except Tuesday, with an ARCO card required. Read the programme on clubprivemilano.it so you arrive on the right night.
Saunas

Metrò Sauna · Via Giovanni Schiaparelli 1, near Milano Centrale
The most central of the saunas, a short walk from the station. ARCO lists it as men only, running since the 1990s, open every day from 12:00 to 24:00. Nighttours describes a steam room, a Finnish sauna, a whirlpool, cabins and darker cruising areas spread over several floors, and a café area; ARCO adds bar tables with sockets if you want to answer an email between rounds.
Royal Hammam · Via Plezzo 16, Lambrate
Within walking distance of Lambrate station and the M2, Royal Hammam is described on its ARCO page as the reference sauna for Milan's gay community. Travel Gay lists a pool with a terrace, a Turkish bath, a dry sauna, a jacuzzi, a dark room and a large bar, with entry at €25 (as listed in 2025). Hours (ARCO): Monday to Friday 11:00–23:00, and from 11:00 on Saturday non-stop through the night into Sunday, closing at 23:00. The Saturday all-nighter is the one to know about if you land after the metro stops.

Fenix Sauna · Via Oropa 3, Cimiano
In the same building as Hot Dog Club, Fenix is a daytime sauna on several floors. Travel Gay says it is popular with bears and mature men and lists a dry sauna, a hydro-massage jacuzzi, massage by appointment and a two-floor cruising area. Hours (ARCO): Monday to Saturday 13:00–21:00, Sunday 12:00–21:00.
TBlue Sauna · Via Ernesto Breda 158, north Milan
TBlue calls itself "your little spa club in Milan", and Travel Gay describes it as a newer sauna with a calm atmosphere, listing a dry sauna, a large jacuzzi, showers, a bar and a lounge. Hours (ARCO): daily 13:00–21:00. It is the furthest out, in the north of the city, so check the route on the ATM app.
Thermas: check before you go. Thermas is not in ARCO's current directory, and the address differs between listings: Travel Gay gives Via Bezzecca 9, other listings Via San Gregorio 35. We could not confirm that it is operating in 2026, so phone or look for recent reviews before you set off.
Outdoors: Parco Sempione
Parco Sempione · between the Castello Sforzesco and the Arco della Pace
Milan's central park covers about 38.6 hectares behind the Castello Sforzesco, running north-west to the Arco della Pace, with the Arena and the Triennale on its edges. By day it belongs to joggers, families, tourists and students. It has a reputation as a place where men meet, but we found no current independent source on where or how busy that is. What is certain is that the park is fenced and locked at night.
Gate hours (Milanofree, updated October 2026): open from 06:30, closing at 21:00 from October to April, 22:00 in May and 23:30 from June to September; the Comune di Milano's own listing is the final word, and events can change the hours. Main entrances include Piazza Castello, Via Pagano, Viale Elvezia and Viale Alemagna. The nearest metro stops are Cairoli and Cadorna (M1), Lanza (M2) and Domodossola (M5).
The law, in short: being in the park during opening hours is legal. Sex in a public place is not: under article 527 of the Italian criminal code, atti osceni in a public place are punished with an administrative fine of €5,000 to €30,000, and remain a crime with a possible prison sentence where minors are or could be present. A public park counts as a public place, even when it is dark.
Safety in and around the park:
- Don't get locked in. In March 2025, Il Giorno reported that people unaware of the closing time had been shut inside the park and had to phone for security staff to let them out. Watch the time and know which gate you came in by.
- Robbery happens. In April 2025 a tourist was wounded in the leg by a robber trying to snatch his gold necklace on Via Pagano, at the edge of the park; he walked into the closed park and firefighters had to reach him. Leave chains, watches and your passport at the hotel, carry a little cash and a charged phone, and keep the phone out of sight.
- Stay where it is lit. The main paths are lit; the wooded sections are not. Go while the park is busy, with a friend if you can, and leave if something feels wrong.
- Emergencies: call 112.
- The indoor clubs and saunas are the safer and legal option, and several are open long after the gates close.
- Metro hours: trains run from about 05:30–06:00 until about 00:20–00:30 on M1 to M4, and until around midnight on M5. A single urban ticket costs €2.20 and is valid for 90 minutes on metro, trams and buses. Tap a contactless bank card or phone at the turnstile, or load a RicaricaMi card.
- Night buses: after the metro closes, ATM's NM1, NM2, NM3 and NM4 buses follow the metro lines every night, and N25/N26 link Centrale and Cadorna. Extra night lines run on Friday and Saturday nights. Check times in the ATM app. Royal Hammam's Saturday non-stop and Illumined's 24 hours make a late arrival easier.
- Taxis: book a licensed white taxi by app or at a rank, especially from Cimiano or Lambrate late at night.
- ID and cash: bring photo ID for the card and some cash for entry, lockers and drinks.
- Lockers and photos: leave valuables in the locker (armadietto) and never take photos inside.
- Apps: Grindr and Romeo are both used in Milan. Meet in public first and tell a friend where you are going.
- Health: if a condom breaks, PEP needs to start within 72 hours: go to a hospital emergency department (pronto soccorso). Milano Check Point and CIG Arcigay Milano can point you to HIV and STI testing, and Hot Dog Club hosts testing nights.
- Chems: never mix GHB/GBL with alcohol, and call 112 in an emergency.
- tessera – membership card. circolo privato – private club.
- ingresso – entry. solo uomini – men only.
- armadietto – locker. asciugamano – towel.
- serata a tema – themed night. dress code obbligatorio – dress code enforced.
- preservativo – condom.
- A che ora chiude il parco? – what time does the park close?
- No, grazie – no, thanks; always enough.
Gone or unconfirmed: Plastic, the club on Via Gargano that was a home for Milan's queer and underground nights for 45 years, closed for good after its last night on 28 June 2025. misterb&b marks Alexander's Club Sauna (Via Pindaro 23) and the cruise clubs Flexo (Via Oropa 3) and Inferus (Via Paisiello 4) as closed. Magic Sauna, named in some older guides, has no current listing we could find.
Porta Venezia: before and after
Milan's rainbow neighbourhood is Porta Venezia, the streets east of the old city gate, where bars spill onto the pavement from early evening and Milano Pride runs guided walks in June. Start there with an aperitivo, then take the metro out to the clubs: the M1 from Porta Venezia or Lima to Loreto, then the M2 north-east to Cimiano or Lambrate. Our Milan bars guide has the current list. During the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Arcigay and CIG Arcigay Milano ran a Pride House at the MEET Digital Culture Center on Viale Vittorio Veneto, a few steps from Porta Venezia, from 6 to 22 February 2026, with talks with athletes, live races and evening film and storytelling.
Local colour
Milan's ritual is the aperitivo: from about six, buy a drink and the bar puts out snacks, sometimes a whole buffet. Order a Negroni Sbagliato, the "mistaken" Negroni made with prosecco instead of gin, which Bar Basso claims to have invented, or a bitter Campari soda. If the night is going to be long, eat properly first: a saffron risotto alla milanese, or a cotoletta, the breaded veal chop that Milanese will tell you is not a schnitzel. At Christmas, the city's own panettone is in every shop window.
Practical tips
Pride
The 25th Milano Pride parade was held on Saturday 27 June 2026 under the theme "Corpi in Rivolta, in lotta per i diritti" (bodies in revolt, fighting for rights), after a June programme of more than 100 events. Marchers gathered on Via Vittor Pisani, opposite Centrale station, and walked about 3 km by way of Piazza della Repubblica, Porta Volta and the Arena to the Arco della Pace, where the day ended with speeches and a concert beside Parco Sempione. With temperatures around 38°C, the organisers moved the start to 17:00; they claimed 350,000 people, while local press noted a smaller turnout than in past years. Mayor Beppe Sala used the day to promise a Rainbow Center for the city. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing; Turin has been chosen to host EuroPride in June 2027.
