Gay Cruising in Paris: The Cruise Clubs, the Saunas and the Two Bois

Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and French and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change

Paris runs the deepest cruising infrastructure in Western Europe outside Berlin, and it barely advertises the fact: ten-plus cruise clubs from the strictly-naked L'Impact to the Marais backroom corridor, nine saunas with a near-universal under-26 discount system, a corridor of backroom bars through the Marais, and the two Bois — Vincennes and Boulogne — where Parisians have cruised since before the word existed. Entry runs free to €25, dress codes are real, and Sunday evening is a institution of its own. Here's the complete map.

The legal picture, in one paragraph

France is as friendly as Europe gets: marriage equality since 2013, strong anti-discrimination law, and licensed sex venues operating completely in the open — many with signage, websites and Google listings. Public sexual activity remains an offense (exhibition sexuelle), which keeps the park scene on the usual terms: after dusk, deep sections, discretion. The one trend to know: police presence at both Bois has increased at night in recent years, which has nudged even the outdoor faithful indoors. Fortunately, indoors is where Paris excels.

The cruise clubs: Europe's quiet champion

Paris's club layer is deeper than most visitors ever learn. Two carry GayOut pages today; the rest are listed with full addresses because you'll want them.

Le Dépôt · 10 rue aux Ours (closed)

For over two decades Le Dépôt was the one address in the city where the club night and the cruise maze shared a building, and every generation of Parisian gay men has a Dépôt story. It closed during the pandemic and has not reopened — noted here only so you are not sent looking for a venue that is gone.

L'Impact · 18 rue Greneta, 2nd arr.

The strictly-naked institution: clothes into a bag at the door (shoes stay on), a bar upstairs where conversation happens comfortably undressed, and themed rooms below. Monday to Saturday from 7 p.m., Sundays from 5 — and the Sunday session is the famous one. The most welcoming door in the scene for first-timers, oddly enough: the rule applies to everyone, which dissolves the nerves fast.

Full Metal & SecteurX · rue des Blancs-Manteaux 40 & 49, Marais

The fetish corridor, facing each other on one Marais street. Full Metal (€12) enforces leather, rubber, skin, sport, uniform or naked, provides condoms, lube and gloves, and runs to 4–6 a.m. SecteurX opens earlier (3 p.m. daily), rotates nightly themes — SM, jocks, naked, leather — and draws the leather-and-bears crowd with famously friendly staff. Between them, one street covers the entire fetish week.

Le Keller · 14 rue Keller, Bastille

The historic hardcore house, 50+ years in the BDSM and FF tradition: slings, cages, St Andrew's cross, glory holes and a pillory, €20 with cloakroom and a drink. Strict themed dress codes (and house rules down to no perfumes), Thursday to Saturday nights plus the Sunday 5-to-midnight session. Serious equipment for serious practitioners — read their program before going.

The rest of the deep end

    • Krash (12 rue Simon Le Franc, Marais) — free entry, "sleazy and uninhibited" is the official aesthetic, weekend afternoons-to-7-a.m. hours, group scenes on Saturdays.
    • E2O — Entre Deux Eaux (45 rue de la Folie-Méricourt) — the small 100% nudist club in a laundromat-styled basement; packed is the point.
    • Le Mensch (34 rue Charlot, north Marais) — cruising in medieval cellars, free entry with a drink minimum.
    • REDZONE (9 rue du Pélican, Palais Royal) — underwear or nothing, two floors, the central-Paris newcomer.
    • XK Boys (150 rue Saint-Maur, Oberkampf) — glory holes, slings and cabins on the east side, closed Mondays.

The saunas: nine doors and a discount system

First, the system: almost every Paris sauna discounts under-26s (sometimes under-30s/35s) — often close to half price. One catch: the discount requires official photo ID — passport or driving licence — and a photo on your phone is not always accepted at the door. Carry the real thing whatever your age; they check politely. Details on our Paris saunas page.

Sun City · 62 bd de Sébastopol, Marais edge

The party flagship: the young crowd's sauna, €22 (€16 under-26) with two drinks included on big nights, running until 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday — which makes it the after-club of the Marais. Big, loud by sauna standards, and exactly what it promises.

IDM · 4 rue du Faubourg Montmartre

The value king: €8–16 depending on age and day, for themed cabins, glory-hole booths, a labyrinth, slings and darkrooms. Nothing in Europe gives more floor per euro. Midday to 1–2 a.m.

    Les Bains d'Odessa · Montparnasse

Five floors, a real swimming pool, a giant steam room and a maze — €25 (€19 under-26), the grand-bathhouse experience on the Left Bank. Closes at 10 p.m.: an afternoon palace, not a night one.

    The rest of the circuit

    • Key West (near Gare du Nord) — four floors and 400+ lockers; the arrival-day sauna if you land at the Nord or the Eurostar.
    • Euro Men's Club (2nd arr.) — the mature house, €24 (€16 under-30), Roman-style décor with a water wall, daytime hours (11:00–20:00).
    • Le Riad (20th arr.) — hammam-styled, €20 (€10 under-26); the Middle East comes to Ménilmontant.
    • Les Bains Thai (Montparnasse) — massage-forward, €20 (€12 under-26).
    • Star City (south Montmartre) — the premium ticket at €50+, weekend nights to 5 a.m.; you're paying for exclusivity and you'll know it.

The backroom bars: the Marais bridge

Understand the Marais's internal geography and the whole district clicks: the social, open zone runs along rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie and rue du Temple — terraces, bars, Le RAIDD — while the shaded fetish strip sits two minutes' walk away on the quieter rue des Blancs-Manteaux (and rue Greneta just beyond the district's edge). Same village, two volumes; evenings flow naturally from the first to the second.

Between café and club sits the Marais's third layer: bars with benefits. Le RAIDD is the famous one — its shower shows (yes, live, in a glass box above the bar) are a Paris institution. Bear's Den keeps a small darkroom out back for the furry crowd, One Way (north Marais) runs a video room and dark corners downstairs, and Quetzal — the Marais's oldest cruise-y bar — holds a darkroom upstairs with a long happy hour below. Street cruising, Paris-style, happens on the walk between them: rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, rue des Archives, rue Vieille du Temple. The full map of 43 bars is on our Paris bars page.

The two Bois: choose your forest

Vincennes, on the east side, is the gay one: the Allée Royale, the wooded paths around Lac Daumesnil, and the stretches behind the château — quieter, greener, and the better choice for actual cruising. Get off at Château de Vincennes (line 1) for the Allée Royale end or Porte Dorée (line 8) for Lac Daumesnil; these forests are enormous and the right station saves a half-hour walk. Boulogne, west beyond Porte Dauphine (Porte Maillot or Les Sablons, line 1), is more trafficked and more complicated: sex work dominates whole sections after dark, and the gay cruising areas (toward the equestrian center and the southern trails) share the forest with everything else. Both parks have seen increased police presence at night in recent years. The rules, firmly: daylight to dusk is the comfortable window, valuables at home, offline map downloaded, and anything beyond a meeting moved indoors — in this city of all cities, a club or sauna is twenty minutes away from anywhere.

    How a Paris night unfolds

Apéro in the Marais from 7 — Le Cox's sidewalk crowd is the classic start — dinner at 9 (this is Paris; honor it), the backroom bars until midnight, then the split: RAIDD for the party, then L'Impact, Full Metal and the deep end. Sun City catches the weekend survivors until 6. And learn the local secret the rest of this series knows by now in other accents: Sunday is sacred, and it has a precise choreography — apéro or late brunch in the Marais around 4 p.m. (Le Cox's Sunday crowd is its own institution), the move to L'Impact or Le Keller at 6, and Sun City to close the night. Paris cruising's biggest day isn't Saturday.

Traveling in luxury? Our Luxury Gay Paris edit covers the other end of the evening — the five-star beds these nights end in.

Closed, so you don't waste the métro ticket

Recently closed or transformed — ignore older guides on these: Le Trou de la Sécu (the infamous basement) and Till Ouest are gone, and several long-running Marais bars have changed owners and character in the last few years — a 2019 guidebook will mislead you on at least a handful of doors. We'll restore anything that reopens; tell us if you see shutters up or a new sign.

    The calendar

The Marche des Fiertés — Paris Pride — is the June giant, flooding the city center with hundreds of thousands and pushing every venue in this guide to capacity for a week. November brings Chéries-Chéris, France's major queer film festival. And between the fixed dates runs Paris's roving layer: Morning Deviance (€15–25, every couple of months, with a proper playroom) plus the cruising-party lines — Cruising Factory, Skeet, Under, Cruising Lab — landing at changing clubs most weekends; their Instagram feeds are the schedule, and our Paris events list catches the big ones. The indoor scene itself is seasonless — a January Tuesday at L'Impact looks remarkably like a July one.

    Health, cash and other practicalities

    • Dress codes are enforced at Full Metal, SecteurX (by night), Keller, L'Impact and E2O — check the venue's program for the night before crossing town. The vestiaire (cloakroom) is mandatory at the cruise clubs, universal, reliable — and usually costs €2–3 in cash, separate from entry. Keep coins.
    • Apps, Paris edition: Grindr and Scruff run the baseline, but Sniffies has become the dominant real-time cruising map here — especially around Vincennes, the Marais backrooms and the saunas. If you use one app for the cruising layer specifically, that's the one.
    • Money: cards work everywhere; entries run free–€25 and the under-26 sauna discounts are the best deal in European cruising.
    • Condoms, lube and gloves are provided at the serious venues — Full Metal says so on the door.
    • PEP within 72 hours: any hospital's urgences, free through the French system. For everything short of an emergency, the community address is Le Checkpoint Paris (10 rue de la Perche, in the heart of the Marais): rapid testing, PrEP and PEP counselling and free condoms, walk-in and visitor-friendly. PrEP is mainstream in France; users, bring your supply.
    • Getting around: metro until 2:15 a.m. Friday–Saturday (12:45 otherwise), and the night-bus Noctilien or Uber/Bolt after. The Marais cluster is entirely walkable; Vincennes is at the end of metro line 1, which is almost suspiciously convenient.

Frequently asked questions

Is cruising legal in Paris?

France is one of Europe's friendliest legal environments — marriage equality since 2013, strong protections — and licensed cruise clubs and saunas operate completely openly. Public sexual activity remains an offense (exhibition sexuelle), so the parks run on the usual discretion rules.

What's the best gay cruise club in Paris?

L'Impact is the strictly-naked institution, Full Metal and SecteurX hold the Marais fetish corridor on rue des Blancs-Manteaux, Krash runs the filthiest weekends, and Le Keller is the historic BDSM house near Bastille.

What's the best gay sauna in Paris?

Sun City in the Marais is the party flagship — young crowd, until 6 a.m. on weekends. IDM near Montmartre is the best value with 40 themed rooms from €8 for under-25s, Les Bains d'Odessa runs five floors with a pool, and Euro Men's Club serves the mature crowd. Under-26 discounts are nearly universal.

Bois de Vincennes or Bois de Boulogne?

Vincennes for gay cruising — the Allée Royale and the woods around Lac Daumesnil are the classic territory. Boulogne is more active but more complicated: sex work dominates parts of it, and police presence has increased at both parks at night. Daylight-to-dusk, valuables at home, in both.

When is the best time to visit gay Paris?

Pride season in late June, when the Marche des Fiertés fills the city, or November for the Chéries-Chéris queer film festival. The indoor scene is gloriously seasonless — the clubs and saunas run at full strength every week of the year.
