Gay bars in Buffalo (2026)

Buffalo has three gay bars open in 2026, all in or next to Allentown, plus one music venue that hosts regular queer nights. That's fewer than ten years ago: Club Marcella, Cathode Ray, Q Bar, Roxy's and the Old Pink have all closed since 2020. The good news is that the bars are a few minutes' walk apart, so it's easy to do all of them in one night.

Underground Niteclub

Fugazi

503 Franklin Street, on the corner of Allen. A gay cocktail bar with a long counter, TVs and a mostly local crowd of gay men, lesbians and trans regulars; it calls itself a trans-safe space. Google lists it open every day from 5pm to 2am. Instagram: @fugazibflo.

26 Allen Street. This was Cathode Ray until August 2022 and reopened as 26 in 2023. It's a video bar with a small dance floor that fills on weekends, and the Pride Center's calendar regularly lists karaoke and DJ nights here. Listings give daily hours of 1pm to 3am. Instagram: @twentysixallen.

Underground Niteclub

274 Delaware Avenue, where downtown meets Allentown. A gay bar since the 1970s, it closed in 2018 and reopened in early 2026 under new owner Marty Crawford (WIVB). Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm to 2am; drag on the first and third Fridays, karaoke on Thursdays. It's a basement dive bar rather than a big club. Instagram: @theundergroundniteclub.

Nietzsche's (queer nights)

248 Allen Street. A live-music bar, not a gay bar, but home to Sleaze Ball, a drag and dance party by the DJ duo Business Woman Special, and a Queer Open Mic. Check the venue's listings for dates.

Closed: don't go looking for these

    • Club Marcella: shut by police in December 2023; never reopened.
    • Cathode Ray: closed 2022, now 26.
    • Q Bar (44 Allen St): closed during COVID; its successor Edison's Proof and Provision opened in 2024 but we found no sign of it in 2026.
    • The Old Pink: destroyed by arson in 2024.
    • Roxy's and Funky Monkey: closed during COVID.

    Tips

    • The drinking age is 21 and bars check ID.
    • Thursday to Saturday are the busy nights; early in the week some bars are quiet or closed (Underground is closed Sunday and Monday).
    • There's no gay sauna in Buffalo, and no lesbian bar; queer women's nights come and go, so check the Pride Center calendar.
    • For daytime, The Intersection at 100 Elmwood Avenue is a queer-run café on the edge of Allentown.
