Brasília is a city drawn with a ruler: white modernist ministries, endless sky, red cerrado earth and superquadras where every address is a code of letters and numbers. In the dry season the air is so thin and dry that locals carry water everywhere, and the ipê trees flare pink and yellow over the empty lawns. The capital is home to civil servants, students and diplomats, and its gay life is spread thin across a city built for cars rather than chance encounters. Cruising here happens almost entirely indoors, in a handful of venues in the Setor Comercial Sul, the office district next to the central bus station, plus two old-school adult cinemas. Here's what we could confirm for 2026.

Legal in one line: Brazil has had marriage equality since 2013, and homophobia has been punishable as a crime of racism since 2019. Sex in a public place is a different matter: ato obsceno (Article 233 of the Penal Code) can bring three months to a year in prison or a fine. That's why this guide sends you indoors.

How Brasília addresses work

The Plano Piloto, the original planned city, is shaped like an aeroplane: the residential Asa Sul and Asa Norte wings, with superquadras numbered like 413 Sul or 109 Sul, and the commercial sectors in the middle near the Rodoviária, the central bus station. Addresses are written as sector codes: SCS Quadra 5, Bloco A, Loja 18 means Setor Comercial Sul, block 5, building A, shop 18. Give your Uber or 99 driver the whole code. Taguatinga, home of one of the cinemas below, is a separate satellite city about 21 km west of the Plano Piloto, and Ceilândia lies further out, about 30 km away; allow half an hour or more by car each way.

Setor Comercial Sul: the sauna and the cruise bar

The Setor Comercial Sul (SCS) is a grid of office towers, shops and snack bars between the Rodoviária and Asa Sul. It is busy by day and much quieter once offices close: in late 2024 the Jornal de Brasília found shopkeepers closing early out of fear, and an office worker advised against coming after 6pm. At night, arrive by car, book your Uber or 99 home from inside the venue and step out only when it arrives, rather than walking between blocks.

Clube Soho (Thermas Soho) · SCS Quadra 5, Bloco A, Loja 18, Asa Sul

The city's long-running gay sauna, described back in 2017 as one of the traditional names of Brasília's gay scene and renovated since. It's spread over two floors with a dry sauna and an aromatised steam room, a bar, cabins, a dark room, a video screen and a massage room, and it has a long habit of themed nights: karaoke, bingo and shows, and a Saturday-night tie-up with the Clube dos Cuecas underwear crowd, which a local cruising blog says it's still known for. Spartacus calls it "very friendly" with a high standard of hygiene.

The local site Guia Gay Brasília lists it as open Monday to Thursday and Sunday 15:00–22:00, Friday and Saturday 15:00–00:00, at R$50 from Monday to Thursday and R$60 from Friday to Sunday; another local cruising blog gives R$55 and an all-night Saturday session until about 05:00. Prices and hours change, so check the venue's own site (clubesoho.com) or Instagram (@thermassoho) for the week's agenda. As in most Brazilian saunas, expect garotos de programa (male escorts) to be working, and the local guide lists "boys" among its attractions.

Zoom Gay Bar · SCS Quadra 3, Asa Sul (near Galeria metro station)

Brasília's cruise bar reopened on 14 November 2025 after four months closed, with what the Correio Braziliense described as an expanded layout: a dance floor with a DJ and a bar, then cabins, a dark room, a labyrinth and an erotic chair behind. Practical touches include digital lockers, hygienic showers, an indoor smoking area, condoms and mouthwash, and reinforced security. Entry is for men over 20 only, and the management says it has zero tolerance for harassment or prejudice.

At the reopening, entry was R$40, or R$120 with the full amount credited to drinks. A local cruising blog lists two kinds of session: weekday afternoons from 11:00 to 18:00 (around R$25 with locker, bar closed) and late-night parties from Friday to Sunday, 22:00 to 06:00 (around R$40). Confirm the current schedule on its social media before going.

Check first: the adult cinemas

These venues appear in local guides with hours and prices, but we couldn't find a dated 2025–26 report confirming each one is still open. Treat them as back-ups and call or check social media first.

Cine VIP · Edifício Venâncio IV, Loja 2, CONIC

An adult cinema in the CONIC, the ageing shopping-and-office complex in the Setor de Diversões Sul beside the Rodoviária. Guia Gay Brasília says it has run since 2018, with a straight screening room on the ground floor and a gay room upstairs, five cabins with glory holes and a small bar, open Monday to Saturday 12:00–22:00 at about R$50. One local blog now calls it Clube VIP and describes a mixed crowd, busiest at lunchtime and after work. Women can enter, so it isn't men-only.

Cine Paranoá · Galeria Paranoá Center (basement), Taguatinga Centro

A survivor: according to a 2016 Metrópoles report, this cinema opened in December 1960, showed family films until 1982 and switched to adult films in 1983. It has one big screening room and a dark mezzanine. Local guides list it daily from about 12:00 to 21:00 (20:30 on Sundays) at around R$25. Expect an older, mixed crowd and a worn building; go by day, with little cash.

Closed or unconfirmed: Sauna W3 (CRS 503, Bloco C, Asa Sul), still found in some international listings, doesn't appear in current local guides, and we couldn't confirm it is operating. CEI Club (EQNM 1/3, Bloco B, Loja 4, Ceilândia), a small sauna still listed by some local guides about 30 km from the Plano Piloto: we found no reviews, posts or press from 2025 or 2026 showing it still operates, so we've left it out. The CONIC's old Cine Ritz closed in 2009.

Why there's no outdoor list

We don't send you to parks or public toilets in Brasília, on purpose. Some open spaces in the capital have a long reputation for cruising after dark, but sex in a public place is a crime in Brazil, and Brasília's huge, poorly lit lawns and car parks empty out at night, leaving you isolated if a hookup turns into a robbery. The sauna and cruise bar in the Setor Comercial Sul give you a locker for your phone and a door that locks.

Practical tips

    • Getting around: Brasília is built for cars. Use Uber or 99 door to door, especially at night; order from inside the venue and step out when the car arrives. The metro doesn't run through the night, but by day Galeria station is close to the SCS.
    • Addresses: always give the full sector code (SCS, SDS, CRS, EQNM…) plus quadra, bloco and loja. "Asa Sul" alone won't get you there.
    • Paying: cards are widely accepted. Pix, Brazil's instant payment, is everywhere, but it needs a Brazilian bank account and CPF number, so carry a card and some cash in small notes.
    • Garotos: garotos de programa (male escorts) working in saunas are an accepted part of Brazilian sauna culture. If anything is unclear, ask at the desk. A smile and "não, obrigado" is all you need if you're not interested.
    • Locker and phone: leave valuables at the hotel; lock your phone in the locker, not the cabin. Bring your own condoms and lube.
    • Apps: Hornet is big in Brazil, often bigger with locals than Grindr, so install both. Meet in a bar first, and be wary of anyone who rushes to change venue or asks for a Pix.
    • Health: Brazil's public health system, the SUS, offers free HIV testing, PrEP and PEP. If a condom breaks, PEP must start within 72 hours: go to a public UPA emergency unit or a hospital emergency room and ask for PEP.
    • Before and after: for a drink first, try LAH in 413 Sul, with karaoke and drag, and the gay-friendly Bar Beirute in 109 Sul. See all Brasília gay bars.

    The brasiliense ritual

Ask a local what to eat and you'll be sent to the Rodoviária, the bus station at the heart of the Plano Piloto, a few minutes' walk from the Setor Comercial Sul. Its snack counters are famous for pastel, a crisp fried pastry with meat or cheese, washed down with a tall glass of caldo de cana, sugar-cane juice pressed in front of you. Do it in daylight, before an afternoon at the sauna. In the evening, the city's bar life spills onto the plastic tables of the comércio local strips between the superquadras of Asa Sul and Asa Norte, where a cerveja bem gelada is the default order.

    Pride

The Parada do Orgulho LGBT+ de Brasília is held in July on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, under the windows of the federal government. The 27th edition was on Sunday 26 July 2026, gathering from 14:00 in front of the National Congress under the theme "LGBT+, Levante e Vote!" (roughly "Rise up and vote"), a call to turn out in the October 2026 elections. It closed the Brasília Orgulho festival, with a trio elétrico run by the Distrito Drag collective and Lorena Simpson as headliner. Coordinator Welton Trindade dates the parade back to 1998, and local press calls it the third-oldest in Brazil. On the day, the Esplanada closes to traffic, so take the metro to Estação Central or walk from the Rodoviária. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a gay sauna in Brasília?

Yes. Clube Soho, also known as Thermas Soho, is at SCS Quadra 5, Bloco A, Loja 18 in the Setor Comercial Sul, with dry and steam saunas, a bar, cabins and a dark room. Local guides list it from 15:00 daily, until 22:00 most nights and later at weekends. The Setor Comercial Sul empties at night, so book your ride home from inside.

Is there a gay cruise bar in Brasília?

Yes. Zoom Gay Bar reopened in November 2025 at SCS Quadra 3, a few metres from Galeria metro station, with a dance floor, bar, cabins, a dark room and a labyrinth. It is for men over 20 only. Local listings give weekday afternoon sessions and late-night parties from Friday to Sunday.

How much does gay cruising cost in Brasília?

Local guides list Clube Soho at about R$50 on weekdays and R$60 from Friday to Sunday. Zoom charged R$40 entry when it reopened in late 2025, or R$120 with that amount credited to drinks. The adult cinemas are cheaper, from around R$25 in Taguatinga.

Is outdoor cruising safe in Brasília?

We don't recommend it. Sex in a public place is a crime in Brazil (ato obsceno, Article 233 of the Penal Code), and Brasília's wide, empty spaces after dark leave you isolated if something goes wrong. The city's sauna and cruise bar are a short ride from anywhere in the Plano Piloto.

When is Brasília Pride?

In July, on the Esplanada dos Ministérios. In 2026 the 27th parade took place on Sunday 26 July in front of the National Congress, under the theme "LGBT+, Levante e Vote!"; no date for 2027 had been announced when we checked.
