Arquivo de Identidade Angolano (AIA)

Arquivo de Identidade Angolano (AIA) is a Luanda-based feminist collective founded in 2017 that centres lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer women. Alongside advocacy and documentation work, AIA has run a multifunctional community space known as Cubico offering meals, a library, computer access and cultural programming such as drag and poetry evenings. As with other Angolan LGBTQ+ groups, its physical addresses are kept low-profile for the safety of participants, and connection is best made through its website and social channels ahead of a visit. AIA is one of the clearest examples of organised queer community life in Luanda and a valuable resource for women travellers seeking local connection.
