The Hotel Windsor

This century-old hotel boasts a superb location, attentive service, and excellent afternoon tea and breakfast. While the facilities are a bit dated, the vintage atmosphere and convenient location make it a place you won't want to leave. Highly recommended!

High Tea booked through Luxury Escapes. The Windsor staff were very attentive. I enjoyed all of my food and free flowing sparkling which was topped up with regularity. My dietary requirements were met without fuss and I shall be coming back with my aunty and uncle next year

We stayed here for our wedding, as we got married at the registry across the road. We had a suite, and it was absolutely perfect for pre wedding photos, as well as having our guests drop in for a drink etc. Everyone we dealt with was amazing, from the reservations team to the check in staff to housekeeping. They made our stay fantastic, and we can’t wait to come and celebrate our wedding anniversary here every year moving forward 🥰

Beautiful old historical hotel but that is as far as it goes. We booked a two night stay in November in a superior room. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room which we thought was great but little did we know what lay ahead! Room was lovely and clean but shower and dressing room had mould on ceilings and tv cabinet door housing bar fridge would not close. On the first morning of our arrival we used a styling appliance in the bathroom and it sparked and stopped working. We then attempted to use another in another room adjacent to the bathroom and it too was ruined. We lost power from those sockets after this and bedside lamps began flashing. We were late back and decided to report it the following morning. We advised staff on check out the following morning and sent numerous emails a day or so after returning home. Finally the response was that maintenance would look into it and offered us a free breakfast upon our return! Not good enough hotel Windsor, mould is a major health and safety issue as with faulty electrical sockets! We were compensated reluctantly I feel, for one ruined appliance!

This is a historic hotel, and the elevators, in particular, show their age. The rooms are spacious with very high ceilings. I slept well every night, but my father, who stayed in a room facing the Parliament building and was directly above the bar on a Friday night, said it was quite noisy. For breakfast, you can choose whatever you like from the menu. From a Japanese perspective, I felt the shower water took a long time to heat up. Amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body cream, and soap. There's also a TV, hairdryer, kettle, and safe. Hair caps, sanitary bags, and bathrobes were also provided. One thing I'm a little curious about is why these kinds of overseas hotels don't usually provide slippers in the rooms.

Pretty sad about the poor old Windsor. Very tired. Peeling paint, musty smell, grubby mirrors, peeling bath, thin nasty blanket. Fake oil paintings even in the common areas. Very noisy hallway with people coming and going all hours. I booked cheap on Booking.com but honestly if Id booked full price id be complaining...to them...not just strangers on the internet. Needs a 50 million dollar make over. Borrowing its glory from a former time.

We had a junior suite which was beautiful and well worth the extra cost (had its own small lounge room). Great location close to the theatre precinct.

Very thoughtful. Well worth paying the extra for the weekend. So intricate.
