Regular live music events — folk, singer-songwriter, indie — distinguish it from the DJ-focused gay bar format and reflect the bar's feminist and alternative cultural roots. Frankfurt's lesbian scene is smaller and less visible than Berlin's or Hamburg's, which makes Blue Angel all the more important as a fixed reference point.
