We paid for a 5-star hotel – we got a 3-star experience at best We chose this hotel expecting to enjoy a 5-star all-inclusive vacation. We paid around 1,000 euros for 4 nights, so we expected to receive high-quality service, quality food, well-maintained facilities and a hospitality experience that would justify the price. Unfortunately, the experience we received was far from expectations. From the moment we arrived, our vacation started on the wrong foot. We booked a room with a sea view and two separate beds, but in fact we received an accessible room that did not match our reservation. In addition to not having two separate beds, the room itself did not suit our needs. The shower did not have a proper separation, and the water spread all over the bathroom floor after each use. When we went to the reception, we were told that there was no immediate solution and that we could only move rooms the next day. After insisting, we waited for about 50 minutes at the reception while the staff tried to find an alternative. In the end, another room was found, but it also did not match the original booking – instead of two separate beds, we only got a double bed, because there were no other rooms available. So in practice, we had to compromise on a room type that we did not book. The alternative room was also not up to the expected standard. The phone in the room did not work at all, even though we contacted them several times and asked them to take care of it. In addition, the water flow in the shower was very weak throughout our stay. The biggest disappointment was the "all inclusive" package. In practice, it is a package with quite a few limitations that were not clearly explained in advance. Some cocktails require an additional fee, some food requires an additional fee, and there is no organized page or document that explains exactly what is included and what is not. Everything is explained orally, and sometimes the information we received was not clear or did not match what we actually encountered. The issue of food during the day was also disappointing. If you want to snack by the pool, the only option within the package is basic sandwiches. Other items, such as chips or additional dishes, require an additional fee. Additionally, if you are at the main pool, there are almost no food options available in the area, and you need to go up to the dining room or the food stand located by the rooftop pool on the 11th floor. The food in the main dining room was, in our opinion, below the standard expected from a 5-star hotel. On the other hand, the Italian and Greek restaurants were excellent and the food was very tasty. The problem is that it is very difficult to get a seat there. Every time we tried to make a reservation, we were told to come back later. When we returned, sometimes there were no seats available. What surprised us most was that we were told that there was no room as part of the "all inclusive" package, but that there was an option to sit in the restaurant for a fee. This created an unpleasant feeling for us and made the booking experience frustrating. The pool area was also not very impressive. Additionally, there are no towels available near the pools, and to get a towel you need to go to the spa located on the -1st floor and some distance from the pool area. The spa was another disappointment. The included spa complex has a dry sauna, a wet sauna and a jacuzzi. During our stay, the dry sauna was barely warm, the wet sauna did not work and the jacuzzi had cold water. We contacted the staff several times and were told that the issue would be addressed, but we did not see any change in practice. At the same time, the hotel has another adults-only spa complex where all the facilities were working properly. When we asked to use it in light of the condition of the facilities included in our package, we were told that there was an additional fee for entry. In addition, the hotel has a large number of pigeons on the balconies, in the seating areas and even around the dining room, which affected our sense of cleanliness and comfort. But most of all, our biggest disappointment was the service at the reception. Mistakes can happen in any hotel, but it is the way they are handled that makes the difference. Throughout our stay, we felt that we received very little initiative or real attempt to find solutions. Many times we had to go back to reception again and again, insist and spend valuable time from our vacation to get a response. I have been traveling for many years and have stayed in many hotels in Israel and around the world, at various levels. I don't remember an experience where I had to deal with so many problems during a vacation, and certainly not in a hotel that presents itself as a 5-star hotel. Title: Severe privacy violation – male staff ignored Do Not Disturb sign and refused to leave while guest was naked in shower We recently stayed in a suite at this 5-star hotel, expecting the highest level of service, privacy, and respect. What we experienced was deeply disturbing, and I feel a responsibility to warn other guests – especially couples and women traveling. When this incident occurred, our Do Not Disturb light was actively on – a red light displayed outside our door, clearly signaling that no one should enter. The hotel has since confirmed themselves that the light was indeed on at the time. Despite this, two members of the cleaning staff chose to enter our suite anyway. One of them was a man. At the time, my partner was completely naked in the shower. We immediately told them to leave. They did not. We had to shout at them – repeatedly, at least five times – before the male staff member finally left the room. By that point, we are certain that both of them had seen my partner naked and exposed. This is not a misunderstanding or an accident. The Do Not Disturb signal was active and visible. The hotel has acknowledged this. There is no excuse. Entering a guest’s room under these circumstances is a deliberate disregard for guest privacy, safety, and basic human dignity. My partner is now scared and deeply shaken by what happened. No guest should ever feel unsafe or violated in their own hotel room – least of all in a suite at a property carrying 5 stars. A 5-star hotel carries with it a promise: that guests will be treated with the utmost respect and care. Staff should never enter a room without clear confirmation that it is safe to do so – and a lit Do Not Disturb sign is the clearest possible signal. That basic standard was not just missed here – it was ignored. A woman was left exposed and frightened while a male stranger refused to leave, even after being told multiple times. We reported the incident to hotel management and expect it to be handled with the seriousness it deserves. We will also be following up with our travel insurance, the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), the tourist police, and our tour operator. This type of behavior can and should have consequences for a hotel’s rating and operating license. To future guests, and especially women: be aware that even the Do Not Disturb signal may not be respected here. What happened to us was violating, frightening, and completely unacceptable at any hotel – let alone one of this supposed standard. We do not feel safe here, and no guest should have to.

Amus hotel is a wonderful place to stay, the staff are so attentive and super helpful, will always help with any issues (if you have any) which we did not. Nicholas is especially wonderful he has been so indulging and great with guests. I will definitely be recommending to family/ friends and we will definitely be back. Aside from two aspects, which are described in more detail below and are relevant to us, it's a good hotel overall – delicious half-board, very friendly staff (the young waiter Evgeni is great!), and a good location with a nice beach offering free sun loungers and parking. However, two things really bothered us: 1. We had booked a bungalow for two people. Upon arrival, we inquired whether we could check in. After a lengthy phone call between the young receptionist and someone in Greek, we were finally given our room key with the comment, "This is your room." So, we went up to the 11th floor, where the bungalows are located, with our luggage and suitcases, only to discover that our room key didn't fit any of the bungalow numbers. At the time, we suspected that the wrong key had simply been given out by mistake. So, back to reception again, where the same young receptionist informed us that this was our room and an upgrade (our incorrect room was a deluxe room with a sea view, approximately 25 square meters, significantly smaller than our booked bungalow, approximately 37 square meters). She then asked if we didn't like sea views. I found that quite rude in that situation. I insisted on our booking of the bungalow, as it was considerably larger, and we had booked it and paid more for it! We were then told to sit in the lobby and wait for her. "Waiting" turned out to be 20 minutes, and the receptionist had suddenly disappeared. So, I went back to reception myself, where a different receptionist told me we would be getting the bungalow... We received keys, hoping for the bungalow, and went back upstairs with our luggage, only to discover that the keys hadn't yet been assigned to the correct room number. So, back to reception for the third time! Very annoying; at least 45 minutes were wasted on this whole ordeal, which was unpleasant after a very early flight. I found the whole thing very suspicious. 2. The cleaning lady for the bungalow was very nice and did a good job, however, in my opinion, it would be helpful if the staff were also provided with a vacuum cleaner. Despite daily mopping, the floor was dirty. On the day of our arrival, we found other people's hairs and various crumbs and paper balls all over the floor – unfortunately, unhygienic.

The hotel is nowhere near what you'd expect from a 5-star establishment. The all-you-can-eat restaurant leaves much to be desired. The room cleaning was only half done: you wonder if the floor was even washed. Aside from changing the towels and emptying the trash, there was no indication that a proper cleaning had taken place. To our great surprise, we also found a cockroach in the bathroom. Avoid this hotel. For an establishment claiming to be 5 stars, it's a complete waste of money.

We spent a week as a family with our three children at the Amus Hotel in Rhodes at the end of April 2026, on an all-inclusive basis, and we have wonderful memories of our stay. The all-you-can-eat buffet offered a very varied and generous selection, ensuring there was something for everyone at every meal. The areas around the pool were particularly pleasant and well-maintained, perfect for relaxing as a family. We also really enjoyed the lovely bar, which offered a wide selection of drinks and a magnificent view of the sea and sunsets. A big thank you to the hotel for thoughtfully assigning us two adjoining rooms connected by a small interior door. This arrangement was ideal for fully enjoying our family stay while maintaining a comfortable atmosphere. The spa area was very pleasant and perfect for relaxing. Access to the private pebble beach was quick and easy. The three restaurants offer different atmospheres, with varied and high-quality cuisine, ensuring a delightful dining experience throughout your stay. Finally, the staff is friendly, helpful, and always available to meet guests' needs. A truly wonderful place that we wholeheartedly recommend for a family holiday in Rhodes. 🌅🏖️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
