Háttér Society (Háttér Társaság)

Háttér Society (Háttér Társaság) is the largest and longest-running LGBTQ+ organisation in Hungary, founded in 1995. From its Budapest base it operates a national information and crisis helpline, a legal-aid service that has taken landmark discrimination and hate-crime cases, an HIV/AIDS prevention programme, a mental-health support service and the country's main LGBTQ+ archive and library. Háttér is a leading voice against Hungary's 2021 anti-LGBTQ+ "propaganda" law and a key support resource for both locals and visitors who encounter discrimination.
