Padova Pride Village

I've been coming to the village since 2018 and can confirm the perception of a slow and steady decline over the years, culminating with this year's edition, perhaps the worst ever. Prices have skyrocketed, the venue is incredibly disorganized, with endless lines for everything, an embarrassing outdoor sound system, and ice sold for a fortune (the cocktails), just to name a few. And then the main problem: the event's total loss of soul. Returning to Pride Village in the summer used to feel like going home; now the only feeling is that of going to have your wallet emptied for an ultimately meh experience. A big, noisy, empty box. What a shame.

Shocking Experience: Discrimination and Unacceptable Security Management ​Unfortunately, I find myself having to write an extremely negative review regarding what happened this evening at Pride Village. ​The situation was surreal: after I kindly offered a cigarette and the use of my IQOS to a woman sitting next to us, her partner reacted by physically attacking me, punching me in the face, without any justification. Despite the fact that I weigh 49 kg and he weighs significantly more (about 90 kg), the security staff's reaction was profoundly discriminatory and disconcerting. ​Rather than intervene against the attacker, the bouncers chose to restrain me, the victim, allowing the man to leave undisturbed. I struggled to report the attack to the police at the exit, despite the attacker's partner initially begging me not to say anything. It's disheartening to find yourself in a place that should be a symbol of inclusiveness, respect, and safety, yet instead be subjected to such treatment: gratuitous physical violence ignored by those who should be protecting guests, and a security management system that has completely reversed the roles of victim and perpetrator. Pride should represent far different values. This is an experience to forget. I remind you that, since this was a physical assault resulting in injuries, it's important to have the punch you received reported to the emergency room for official medical documentation, which will be crucial should you decide to file a formal complaint with the relevant authorities in the coming hours.
