Hogelandse Park (Cruising Area)

Hogelandsepark is a small, leafy public park just east of Utrecht's old centre with a long-standing reputation as a discreet gay cruising spot, especially after dark. In line with Dutch practice, cruising here is tolerated (gedoogd) as long as it stays out of public view and does not disturb others; the Netherlands is among the world's most LGBTQ-accepting countries, but this remains an informal, unofficial use of a public space rather than a designated zone. Activity is quiet and weather-dependent, picking up on warm evenings. Visitors should be discreet, respect other park users, keep to secluded areas, look out for their own safety, and remember the park is public and patrolled. Utrecht has no gay sauna, so outdoor spots like this are the main local cruising option.
