Gayxample — Distrito Gay de Eixample

This district is the most densely populated in Barcelona and is an example of perfect urban geometry. It is known for the Sagrada Familia, Passeig de Gracia with many of Gaudi’s buildings, le Rambla de Catalunya boulevard and Hopital de Stanta Creu. You understand this part in the heart of the city is really inevitable.

The Eixample district, designed in the 19th century by Ildefons Cerdà as a progressive urban checkerboard, has become a real laboratory for Antoni Gaudí. With its spacious plots and wide streets, this rational setting offered an ideal ground for the architect’s audacity. Gaudí reinvented urban planning by injecting organic forms, breaking the rigidity of the original plan. His works shake up established codes: undulating façades of Casa Milà, roof-sculptures of Casa Batlló, and even a symbolic alignment between the Sagrada Família and the Passeig de Gràcia axis, which gives an almost mystical dimension to the whole.

With its grid like set out. Sagrada Familia is the best known monument of L'Eixample District. It has a lot of other interesting architecture. Good for a stroll or to soak it up on the HOHO bus.

Very nice area. This is a great area for walking, shopping, cafes and rooftop bars. The area feels very safe and it extremely clean. It is getting incredibly busy with tourists. I can completely understand the residents concerns about tourism.

District with a main artery and essential for both architecture lovers and shopping snags. This main thoroughfare reflects this lively neighbourhood.

A really fun place to have a drink, very comfortable

This bar is a classic on Barcelona's gay nightlife scene. The decor, featuring countless religious images, gives the place a special, mystical charm. The service is good, and the staff is very attentive and friendly. A great place to start your night. The bar is small and fills up quickly, but the service is consistently excellent whether it's crowded or quiet. Don't miss this place. I personally love it.

It's a classic, the decoration is wonderful, very particular. The service is more than adequate and the prices aren't bad.

Great bar to start your evening. Friendly bartenders and great prices. Its very small and you have to enter through a very narrow hallway with the walls full of religious ornaments, hence the name. Deffenately worth the visit!
