Atemlos

When Atemlos opened its doors on Bergsgatan 29 on the last day of January 2026, it ended a four-year drought: Malmö had been without a permanent gay bar since Red Shoe Bar and Bee Bar both closed in 2022. The name means "breathless" in German, and the team behind it — the same crew that runs the popular Malmö venues Grisen and Draken — says the inspiration was Hamburg style late-night bars: casual, a bit loud, a place where everyone feels at home. In practice that means a queer bar with DJs on the weekend, plus a rolling programme of quiz nights, karaoke and party evenings during the week. The house rules are refreshingly explicit: zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment, an "Änglashot" code word you can say at the bar to discreetly alert staff if someone is making you uncomfortable, and free entry for anyone who shows up in drag or a suitably extreme look. Otherwise the cover is a modest 50 SEK after 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The location is central and easy: a few minutes from Triangeln station, next door to the Inkonst cultural centre, on the same block where the much-missed club Wonk once stood. Open Wednesday and Thursday evenings until midnight, Friday and Saturday until 03:00. Eighteen and over.
