Hotel Kreuz Sachseln by b_smart

We stayed here for 2 nights, and while the room itself was acceptable, the biggest drawback was the check-in. I’m sure it’s easy enough when there isn’t an error; however, we could not find our reservation in the system, apparently because both rooms had the same last name on them (of course they did - my parents were in the second room!). This caused a long delay, which simply wouldn’t have existed had an actual human been there to greet us and provide service. Ultimately we managed to call the help number, thanks to a kind lady from the restaurant team who allowed us to use her Swiss phone (otherwise, coming from another country, I have zero idea how we would have checked in). The man on the other end of the phone seemed very eager to hang up, and my husband had to repeatedly ask him to please wait until we successfully checked into both rooms. I regularly stay in hotels all around the world, and have never encountered such a system. I feel it is presented as “smart” or some kind of cutting edge process, going off of the hotel’s responses to similar reviews; however, checking in late or departing early is offered at all hotels — a human does this job, and I don’t know why the hotel talks as if this isn’t an option. The room had no kettle, spoons, or tea/coffee. Again, this is framed as some kind of benefit or forward-thinking ideology, but I personally think this is just cost cutting — maximizing the profit margin at the expense of guest comfort. I did enjoy the peace and quiet, and can overlook the heat in the room. A fan was provided, but no air conditioning (which I’m aware is very typical).

Very good. A lovely hotel with spacious rooms in a quiet village. However, it's located very close to the church bell, which will definitely wake you up.

We have been residing in this hotel for the past two days, and the room has not been serviced by the staff, despite our absence for approximately 8-9 hours (from morning to evening) with the "clean the room" card displayed on the door. Worst part of our Switzerland tour.

Extremely poor housekeeping and room service. Despite staying here for several days, our room has not been cleaned for the past two days. Towels have not been replaced, and essential bathroom amenities such as toothbrushes and other supplies were never restocked. It is shocking that such basic standards of cleanliness and guest service are being ignored. This has completely ruined our stay and reflects very poorly on the hotel’s management.

We've been there three times... The first, the only, and the last time. First visit under new management. Feedback: Local products are important, and the Kreuz truly embraces them, offering them at moderate prices. A cozy restaurant. We ordered four burgers, fries, two beers, water, and coffee. Nothing particularly special. The burger wasn't hot. The patty was a bit tough. Three burgers arrived. The fourth was apparently forgotten and wasn't ordered. Our waiter, with his fly open, apologized. Everyone makes mistakes, but those who do their jobs correctly don't. It can happen—but it shouldn't. Well... I don't expect my meal to be removed from the bill because of this. But a free coffee would have made up for it. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio at the Kreuz restaurant isn't right. What a shame!

The owner, responding to the last comment, noted that the wrinkled jeans in the closet, left by the previous tenants, do not meet his standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Therefore, he must have changed his standards of cleanliness and hygiene so that the jeans could wait for their owner in the closet =)

The rooms are clean and the view is beautiful.

My stay at this hotel was unfortunately a complete disappointment in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. Room condition: Upon arrival, I found a wrinkled, worn pair of jeans belonging to the previous guest in the wardrobe. The room had clearly not been cleaned thoroughly. Breakfast: It got even worse: At breakfast, I discovered significant mold in two different mocha yogurts (see photo). This is not only unappetizing but downright hazardous to health. When both room cleaning and food quality control fail so miserably at a hotel, I can only strongly advise against staying there. Quality management seems to be completely lacking.

Great hotel at a good price, I recommend it

The hotel is surrounded by nature, we really liked it. The price was a bit high, but acceptable for Switzerland. The parking was excellent, the first 3-4 hours free, after that it's paid. I recommend it.
