Hotel Pendulum

not bad , I requested a larger room , as the first room was to small , a bit shabby . But I liked the other room .The hotel needs to be redecorated. and new furniture would definitely improve.

Comfy bed, but small dingy room with a broken kettle. I was at a work event the next day there and the lunch was the very worst food I’ve had in decades (think terrible school dinners and you’re half way there).

I stayed at this hotel because I was going to watch City play. It was close to the stadium and various places to eat, so location 4/5. There was good service, the bar was kept open extra so I could watch the football, 5/5. The rooms were a let down, they are small, without air conditioning and worn out, but the lobby and reception are nice so you can spend time there instead. Overall 4/5

Stayed her for business meeting. Food very average and hot water system couldn't cope with the number of guests staying, so no hot water when I needed to shower. Bed comfortable, though.

The rooms are very small, it's quite noisy because of the open architecture and some Fresenius paint at some Walls would be necessary.

Have stayed here a couple of times now (the second not by choice - not booked by me). Cannot recommend. Rooms are hot and stuffy, there is no AC and windows do not open fully, fans are provided but they only do so much. The beds are tiny, I'm pretty sure they're smaller than a standard UK double - which exacerbates the excessive temperature problem considerably. The mattress was clearly very old, had springs sticking out the side of it. The bathroom had broken tiles and holes where items had been removed from the walls and not filled in. There are no sockets near the bed. The only redeeming feature is the proximity to the city centre and the relatively low price (you get what you pay for I guess).

Great value for money hotel with really helpful staff in a great central location but that's not too noisy. Usually stay here when I'm in Manchester for work

This hotel has seen better days. While the lobby isn't too bad, the room I stayed in was tired. From fittings in the room looking scratched and very well worn, to the toilet clearly falling off the wall a bit by the gap between the poorly applied sealant and wall. The shower was powerful and could go pretty hot, which was really nice. But the room design was terrible, for example the bathroom light switch was by the room entrance which was about 3 metres from the bathroom door (took me a while to find), the vanity mirror light didn't work. The main lights were quite a warm light that took a few seconds to come on, while the lights above the bed were cold white and very bright point staight down at you. No soft lighting for before bed, no reading lights, it just felt poorly thought through. The curtains didn't let any light through, but some light did shine around the edges. The doors and things did bang a fair bit, so once people were up and about you'd struggle to sleep with the noises. Overall it did the job, but for the price of £120/night I expect more.

Conference hotel, not really a tourist hotel. The good - clean, staff are very friendly, good central location, full English breakfast was one of the best I’ve had and plentiful. The less good - quite dated/faded with a confusing rabbit warren layout, rooms are ok but basic and very faded, restaurant facility is just so so. Nothing overtly ‘bad’ though. For a conference it’s fine. If you can get a good deal on a room, it’s probably very cheap too, for a city centre hotel. (But around conferences it wasn’t so drastically cheaper than some neighbouring chain hotels). It’s ok.
