About this place Pendulum Hotel

The Pendulum Hotel is an LGBTQ+-friendly spot in Manchester, right between the university and downtown.

You’ll find it on Sackville Street, an eight-minute walk from Manchester Oxford Road train station. That’s an easy arrival. From there, it’s another 15 minutes on foot to the city center, which means you’re right near Manchester’s gay scene, plus independent shops and museums.

Rooms are simple and comfortable. You get tea and coffee, plus free WiFi everywhere. If you need more space, suites come with work areas and sofas. Room service runs 24/7. Downstairs, there’s a casual restaurant, a bar for evening drinks, and a coffee shop if you need a daytime pick-me-up.

The Pendulum bills itself as a conference hotel, but it’s really just a comfortable, accessible place to stay in central Manchester. For business or pleasure, it’s a solid home base.

I read some reviews saying this was really basic and still felt like student halls, but for £80 a night I thought it was great. Great location, really friendly efficient staff, and some cool stuff in the hotel like the entry statue and the swinging pendulum. It is pretty basic room wise but the rooms were bigger than a premier inn, I’d definitely stay again. Easy waking to Chinese and gay areas. Would definitely stay again for the price. Mattresses not the best but overall it was a bargain. We had a shower and bath, it was very clean, large room and tv.

Lovely day out for the board game festival. Great staff all round. Yvonne in particular in the garden bar made everyone feel welcome.

Lovely comfy bed and a nice, roomy shower made this room stand out from others elsewhere, with probably better reviews. Everything was nice and clean and really the only thing lacking was a bedside cabinet to put your coffee on in the morning. Would recommend.

This hotel needs new management. It was a very disappointing stay. Very basic facility like toothpaste were not provided, and there wasn’t even a bottle of water in the room. The room itself was very small and felt poorly maintained. On top of that, the bedsheets were stained and not properly cleaned, which I have never experienced anywhere else, clearly needs refurbishment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not be staying here again.
