The Trail Hotel

We returned for the second time in just seven months, and the moment you step inside, you remember why. From the moment you walk in, everything feels amazing, the service, the amenities, the atmosphere, even the way the hotel smells. The ambiance is upscale yet relaxing and cozy; the kind of place where you can unwind over exceptional food and truly great whiskey. The speakeasy is a must visit, and Keaton made the night. He’s smart, funny, welcoming, and incredibly talented. He is the kind of bartender who turns a drink into an experience. He made our visit unforgettable. The location couldn’t be better, close to the distilleries and the charm of downtown Bardstown. I’m already looking forward to going back.

We recently stayed at the trail hotel for our anniversary. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted and check in by Nick. He was extremely polite, helpful and went over all the hotel had to offer. Pool and pool bar was amazing and super relaxing. Our room was clean, so nicely decorated in bourbon theme. The speakeasy bar was absolutely incredible, a must see and experience. Dinner at oak and ember was also amazing. We are already planning our next trip back.

Room was nice and staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks were good but a little pricey, food was great. Cornhole area was unkept and not very inviting if you wanted to use it. Outdoor patio with fire pits was nice in the evening!

Food was great, definitely try the Hash brown Pasta!

My stay at The Trail Hotel was truly fantastic! This is my favorite hotel stop in Bardstown. I love the location (right across the street from Preservation) and less than 10 minutes to downtown Bardstown. I stayed in a suite, the rooms were cozy and comfortable. The restaurant food and cocktails were delicious! An added touch was the speakeasy! Such a cool idea for a hotel. The team was incredibly nice throughout our experience from start to finish. I did not experience the golf simulator or rejuvenation room but it was great they have these onsite as well. The property is an a completely renovated older motel, however, you would only know this from the exterior. The inside has been completely renovated from top to bottom. This is THE place I stay when I come to Bardstown.

Consider yourself warned - do not stay here. This is a glorified motel with a facelift. Hard to tell from the website, but you enter your rooms from the outside. People walking by your window day and night. The noise! No safes in the room. And we came back to our room after being out for a full day, and our room door was wide open. Housekeeping left our door open! I went to get a manager and there was nobody on site - they brought out a worker from the kitchen. This place is a joke. No gym. No service. Just a smile without accommodation. I am so sorry we stayed here, and not somewhere in Louisville.

We had an amazing stay! It was our first time here, and we only booked one night — which we immediately regretted because we wished we had stayed longer. The hotel has an incredible modern design, and we loved that the pool and hot tub stay open until 10 PM. The restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. A special shoutout to our server, Lexi — she was incredibly kind and helpful. She explained everything in detail and helped us choose dishes and drinks based on our preferences. She truly made our experience even better. The bourbon cocktails were fantastic! The atmosphere overall was wonderful — guests seemed so happy, relaxed, and cheerful. Even the dogs at the hotel looked like they were having the best time ever! We actually regretted not bringing our own dogs with us. We’ll definitely be back because we still want to explore more of the amenities and try more of the menu. Highly recommend this place! Also, I have to mention something that completely surprised me: this is the first hotel where I’ve seen a portable garment steamer instead of the traditional ironing board and iron — and as someone who really dislikes using irons, I absolutely loved that detail! The only tiny downside was the lack of a microwave and kettle in the room, but honestly that's a very minor thing. Wishing you continued success, and we hope you keep maintaining this wonderful balance of quality and value. We’ll definitely be back!

Super clean. It will be the only place we stay at here from now on.

This has been an awesome and fantastic weekend. My wife took control of this weekend and this is not her go to experience but she surprised both of us and booked this outside her comfort zone and it ended up being great. This is a very cool place and we had a blast!! Thank you. We had a blast !!!

Beautifully themed hotel in the middle of Bourbon country - nice bar, rooms, friendly staff. Only issue is that there weren't a lot of staff, so you sometimes had to wait for service. But I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone touring in this area!

We visit for the food and drink. Excellent place and great people.

I reserved a room for 3 nights. We had a second room elsewhere for the rest of the family. We called on night one and let them know we were coming but going to miss night one. I intended to pay, even for night one, and stay nights 2 and 3. They cancelled the entire reservation, but kindly offered to re-book the room at 2x the price, all while still full billing me for the first Room. I called and asked for help with this and was promised a call back. I never received a call about the original cancelling, or about working with me on the bill. I understand mistakes and cancelling. Even billing me for the first night. However still billing me for the 2&3 nights seems unethical.

Rooms are clean and the beds extra comfortable. The staff is amazing. Had dinner at the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The chef has a great menu. The southern casoulette was exceptional.
