Juneau Park

Juneau Park is a city-centre park on the bluff above Lake Michigan, between Prospect Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Drive. The Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project documents it as a meeting place for gay men from the 1940s, and as a site of repeated police crackdowns, including Milwaukee County Sheriff stings in 1996. Pride itself started here in 1988. We found no reporting on cruising here after 2017, so treat it as history. Public sex is illegal in Wisconsin, county parks close at night, and the park is patrolled. Milwaukee's gay bars are in Walker's Point.
