The Wilshire Grand Hotel

This hotel was very beautiful. The rooms are spacious and they come with a micro fridge and a microwave. There was a very nice ice pail with 2 crystal glasses and 2 bottles of water with the hotel name on the wrapper. The bed was not very comfortable but it was spacious. A king size. There was a computer table which my husband liked. The TV was small in size to the room but it was alright. The curtains covered all the light. Internet was best on weekends. It was spotty during weekday. The bathroom was clean but the tub would not seal for a bath. Also the toilet had to be held off it to flush all the way through. Bathroom was spacious as well and the hotel did provide bath salts. Staff was super friendly. Check in was a breeze. There was plenty of parking. 3 whole lots. There was a patio with a gas grill for anyone interested in grilling meat. The lobby was inviting with pleasant smells from coffee or popcorn etc. They did provide breakfast for free. Nothing too exciting bit the waffle iron worked so I was very happy. It has gardens around the property and I hoped to borrow the bikes to see the town but none were available. I only have a few complaints. Ran out of toilet paper and front desk said the housekeeping staff had already left for the day. Toiletries are small. Not for long hair. The restaurant on the property is no longer open and the new banquet hall is not a restaurant. Overall, it was a very nice stay.

Me and my gf was planning to travel around NJ at the beginning of January, but most of the places we wanna visit were closed at that time. Therefore we stuck in the hotel for like 7 days in a row. The hotel is nice and quiet, I still remember the nights when we were doing treadmill and cycling at the hotel gym. It has been a month since we broke up, I am very sad and miss her so much. Just wanna write down a review as a record of our beautiful memories.

Other reviews made me skeptical after booking, but im pleased to report I have hard time believing all the negative comments. This hotel was spotless, clean, smelled good, the room was tidy and up to date, everything was in working order and I have not a single complaint. I would recommend this hotel for your stay.

This privately owned hotel in the heart of West Orange was perfect for our three night stay in the area. Donna at the front desk is wonderful! She is personality plus and a fantastic first impression when guests walk in the door. The breakfast buffet is plentiful with a huge variety of options and is kept well stocked throughout the morning. Our third floor room was spacious and comfortable and quiet most of the night. We had an issue with our luggage, not arriving and the hotel lent us a few extra toiletries until it arrived. We also appreciated having a microwave and a refrigerator in the room and enjoyed the popcorn in the lobby in the afternoon. Rooms and common areas are very kept very clean.

Just a HORRIBLE experience! First - there is NO breakfast buffet. There’s a variety of carbs - bread, muffin, bagels, waffles and juice/coffee. Plus apples. Second - there is NO room service and the restaurant isn’t operational. How will guests eat? SMH. Third - when I took a shower the water was backed up to my ankles! The toilet doesn’t flush well either so I know that this is a plumbing issue despite what the front staff told me. Horrible, overall experience and definitely NOT worth the price that they are charging people!

Had the pleasure of visiting their banquet halls. Didn’t know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and elegant they are. Seems like a perfect location for an event like a wedding, with out-of-town guests, as the hotel and venue are just steps away. Also, great if you have elderly guest to include as much of it is just on one floor with minimal steps.

I’ve come to this hotel multiple times. On my most recent visit, the fire alarm started ringing around 9:40 am on our first morning in the hotel. My mom went to check whether it was a serious alarm or not after both of us waking up to the alarm. She was told that it was because of a bagel burning, and the alarm continued for around 20 minutes. We thought it was one time thing, so it wasn’t too big a deal. Then, the same thing happened, but even earlier, 8:10 am. The blaring alarm continued for the next 20 minutes, and I’m sure that any people in the hotel were awaken. My mother and I spent that 20 minutes on our beds trying our best to muffle the noise with our pillows. After coming late the past nights, it was horrible being awaken early by a booming alarm. On my first visit to the hotel, I also saw a centipede looking bug at 12 am(picture in the description). I know it cannot be easily controlled by the hotel, but along with other reasons, it does impact my view of this place. While the service is good, the rooms aren’t very clean.

Room was not ready for hours. Staff was rude. Room itself was uncomfortable, dirty, no room service and bed was lumpy. Not worth the fee.

Older, rundown place in dire need of a remodeling. Our small room was a king with a sofa bed for three people. When the sofa bed was folded out you have to walk sideways around the bed to get to the bathroom or the door, literally about 12 inches between the bed and the desk. Toilet ran for about 3-4 minutes after every flush. Only about half the water came out of the shower head when engaged, the rest just poured out the tub faucet. Heard every footstep from people in the room above ours. Breakfast was poor, about a 2 out of 5. Powered eggs, burnt sausage and one waffle maker for a busy breakfast area. No 1/2 and 1/2 the first morning there and no additional coffee packets for the room either night. Plenty of parking. Would not stay here again.
