I chose this hostel because I was happy to see the private pods, thinking it would provide more privacy. I will never do this again! You are better off getting a shared room of 4-6 beds. The design of the "pods" are mini rooms (good), but they have no ceiling. I didn't think much of this until 11:30pm rolled around...you can hear everything on the entire floor of like 30 rooms, people constantly slamming doors, opening their baggage, eating snacks, blow drying their hair at 3am, and walking down the hallway to the bathroom ALL NIGHT. I want to stress, you feel like you are in a room with 30 people and you can't escape the noise at ALL. I got less than four hours of sleep. Location was great and the common area lovely.
Very cold at night
The lady at the front desk was nice, and the young guy.. I back to staying here again I got yelled by the staff after complaining about the room making noise twice at night.. after I told them it’s took forever for them to come and they heard nothing.. and I got yelled! Who wants to up twice middle of the night for no reason? Terrible DO NOT STAY HERE
Hostel from Hell. I find it pretty creepy. If you're tough and completely undemanding, it's probably not a problem, but otherwise, I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. My cousin booked a room here years ago and checked out immediately. She cried when she saw the "room." The rooms are smaller than a cell, there are open metal ceilings, and the hallway is narrow with doors right next to each other. I'd be afraid to stay here.
This hostel wasn't bad at all. I booked a medium vintage pod which gave me more than enough space to unpack my bag and stretch out a bit. I wish there was a bit more airflow to keep the room cooler in the summer heat but the nice showers helped a ton. There was no drinking water on the 4th floor so you would have to travel to the only female floor with a employee to get any drinking water.
love this place & have stayed here more than once Usually clean (however, if during the night guests do something gross in the bathroom, it's not addressed until the housekeepers come in the morning). yes, you have to haul your bags and luggage up a lot of stairs; this is the case for most budget-friendly accommodations in this area of the city. It's one of the quieter/calmer hostels where I've stayed. The rooms are pod-style and you can hear your neighbors but staff are pretty responsive to reports of disruption and in general people follow the rules not to talk much in that space. The common areas are inviting and comfortable. I give 5 stars because they are operating out of a historic 99-year old building and work with the specific benefits and challenges presented by that location.
