Newark LGBTQ Community Center

The Newark LGBTQ Community Center is the city's dedicated queer community hub, tucked on the second floor of the Equal Space co-working building at 89 Market Street in downtown Newark. Opened in 2013 and rooted in the congregation history of Liberation in Truth, the center provides drop-in hours, support services, referrals and a welcoming gathering space for Newark's diverse LGBTQ+ population. Hours are limited and volunteer-driven, so it is worth checking ahead, but for travelers wanting to understand the local scene beyond nightlife it is the place to find programming, community contacts and a friendly face downtown.
