Sobre este lugar Twelve

Twelve is a contemporary restaurant at 115 Thames Street on Portland, Maine's eastern waterfront, with a menu built around Maine produce and seafood. It's a mainstream gay-friendly restaurant, not a gay venue. It has a 4.8 rating from more than 800 Google reviews. It's a sit-down dinner spot, and reservations are strongly advised. The listed price tier is moderate, but check the current menu, because Portland's chef-driven restaurants often cost more than that suggests.

Agree 100% with all the other reviews here - this place is just exceptional from top to bottom. The service, the food/gourmet preparations, the great atmosphere - it’s all as good as you’ll find anywhere. We’ve heard that Michelin doesn’t do reviews of restaurants in the State of Maine, but if they did, Twelve would certainly be “star worthy!”

Great restaurant. The decor is lovely and the vibes are chill for fine dining. Having sat at the chef's table, you get an up close look into how the chefs make each dish and work in unison. The food itself was delicious. My only critique was the mussels, which is a salty fish. The oil use for the dish made it too salty, but it was still well made. I really enjoyed my experience.

A standout meal on our weekend trip to Maine. Highly recommend sitting at the chef’s counter to watch the team work their magic. We did the prix fixe menu, and every dish was thoughtfully crafted & perfectly executed. What a memorable experience.

How do you know when a restaurant IS or is going for “best restaurant” in the region or country? Book a dinner at Twelve and you’ll know the answer. From the manager Hailey to our server Serena and everyone else in the front of the house - service was top notch. Everyone knew the details of each dish and presented them beautifully. When you were thinking you wanted another glass of water you’d look around and it was already refilled. Our waiter remembered that I was considering another glass of wine and made sure that he checked back to see what I was thinking before I’d finished my meal. Oh - and the food - I hate to say “everything” but everything really was delicious. Each dish was creative and perfectly balanced (flavors, colors) without being pretentious. Bonus - the wine list is great. Kudos to the chefs and staff. Can’t wait to return next time we are in Portland.

I had the most spectacular dining experience at Twelve last night. Sat at the chef’s counter and watched the magic of the head chef and her team create masterpieces out of every plate they made. The flavors were unique and more than just delicious. I wanted to eat more even though I was full. The service was just as delightful as the show and food. Twelve, I will be back and bringing friends. Thank you for an unforgettable evening. Cheers 🥂

Very disappointing and misleading reservation experience. I had been planning this dinner for over a year. I dined here by myself the year prior and specifically wanted to return with my husband for a special celebration while we were visiting from out of town. Last year, I booked “bar” seating and was seated at the counter facing the kitchen. This year, I booked the same “bar” seating assuming it meant the same thing, only to arrive and be placed at the actual bar. The problem is that when booking dinner, the only seating options presented were “bar” or “table.” There was no “chef’s kitchen,” “kitchen counter,” or other option that would have made the distinction clear. Had there been, I obviously would have selected it. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. Both the host and general manager were incredibly condescending and showed very little empathy when I tried to explain the confusion. For a restaurant serving a multi-course menu and positioning itself around hospitality, I expected much better. I would never have knowingly booked a special multi-course dinner at a regular bar. What should have been a memorable celebration was completely ruined. After looking forward to returning for more than a year, unfortunately, I won’t be back.
