Should be clearly posted at the main hiking trail down to the beach that this is a CLOTHING OPTIONAL beach and not for children. The beach itself is beautiful and the ocean is magnificent!
We were just looking for a place to see the sunset on our first evening in San Diego. I did not realize until after the fact this place was so controversial, or a nudist beach at all! We did not see any nudity, but we were there on a February evening, so most people we saw were there to see the sunset (plus a few surfers). We didn't go down to the beach itself, but rather some of the trails/cliffs that were by the Torrey Pines Gliderport. There are many signs about the unstable cliffs, and the trails were definitely a 'go at your own risk'. We did not want to go all the way down to the beach, but we did have a beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean, the cliffs along the beach and the city in the distance.
Honestly this experience was really pretty with my boyfriend and we were just trying to get cross off a “buck list” date. However, I got in the nude and that had to end quickly as a pervert constantly moved his towel CLOSER TO US in a span of 20 minutes and then took photos or videos of me not discreetly at all!!! There should be a 0 tolerance of photography at this beach. I had to put my sweater on immediately and left with my boyfriend. I don’t recommend going here without a safe friend. Keep aware of your surroundings.
Was a great experience. It feels awesome walking naked ôn the beach. I will be going back. Be careful the first few times so you don't burn the goodies
Went on a Tuesday wasn’t packed and a random couple just started doing so much creepy stuff infront of us sexually ( me a girl and my partner ) we been together 5 years so we just brushed it off …. We left and they left at the same time we were so sacred it was our first time naked and that made us very uncomfortable….the guy and girl covered themselves with two umbrellas on the side the guy had a beared and the girl didn’t even seem into it lol they did it a good 20 minutes
Love the beach, Love the hike down to the beach, Enjoyed some great people that I met along the way. Did not feel eel like I was being judged just everyone enjoying the sun and sand.
Such a great beach. Warm water. About 2 miles to walk or run. Incredible experience. We are there often. It is worth the hike
Went to blacks beach as a teenager and was isolated, remote, and few people. Wonderful! How things have changed; last two weeks I’ve witnessed men having sex with one another. Park Rangers and life guards do doing about it. But you better not smoke or drink beer! Stay away.
Alot of you just like to complain. If you dont want gawkers, then don't go. Or go nude in your yard. Everytime I go the women watch me but I don't complain. The double standards with you women are wild.
This is a beautiful beach, but you might not want to wander to the North section as this is the area where nudity is allowed, unless that's your thing. Only saw a couple of nude women, but there is an abundance of nude males walking around that had obviously taken Viagra before their visit. Kind of creepy. The hike down the cliff by the gilder port is a little difficult, and the hike back up is even more tricky, especially if it's hot and the sun is beating down on you. Be sure to take plenty of water. If you take your time, it's doable. Just know that there are other ways to and from the beach. If you're not a good climber or out of shape, use the easier ways, but don't miss this beach when in San Diego.
Very quiet place.
Pre workout needed to get there as the climb is not easy for many..
Absolutely beautiful during sunset.
Very fun and beautiful beach with nude part. Wild hills are amazingly pretty, untouched
Black’s Beach is unlike any other beach I’ve visited. If you’re looking for wide-open space, beautiful scenery, and a peaceful atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth experiencing. The beach is enormous. Even on busier days, it rarely feels crowded because there’s so much room. You’ll see other people in the distance, but everyone has plenty of personal space, making it feel surprisingly private and relaxing. One thing to know before you go: getting down to the beach requires a fairly long and steep hike, and the climb back up is definitely a workout. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the effort—it’s worth it once you reach the sand. This is also a clothing-optional beach, so don’t be surprised to see nude visitors. That’s simply part of the beach’s culture. You’ll encounter all kinds of people—young adults, older visitors, couples, solo beachgoers—and everyone is generally respectful and there to enjoy the beach in their own way. The natural beauty here is incredible. Massive cliffs, endless sand, and the feeling of being far away from the crowds make this one of the most unique beaches in Southern California. If you appreciate nature, privacy, and don’t mind the hike—or the clothing-optional environment—Black’s Beach is an unforgettable place that I highly recommend.
My favorite place for 40 years
Great beach, love that I finally got the chance to be nude for once! Note for the newbies - after taking the paragliding trail down left side is for the gay busiest, and the right side is for the general population. Note that this is a clothing optional beach. So not everyone is nude. I left one star off solely because the hike to go up/down is terrible. Make sure you bring a water!
One of the loveliest clothing optional beaches I've gotten to visit.I need to be there more often. I highly recommend it though, it's hard to get down and up the hill, but it's worth it. Lulu sends you with my highest recommendation.
Warm and welcoming, we felt comfortable, and when the sun goes down it gives off such a gorgeous scenic vibe. With or without your cloths on......
my favorite beach in La Jolla hands down. Great invigorating hike up and down. Clean.
Awesome!
Very nice view
Lovely at sunset. One of our favorite beaches in the world. Some tips: Check the weather and bring a blanket. Shorts to get down to the beach and a towel to clean off your feet before making the trek up the steep hill. It’s a half mile of steep stairs, not fun with sand on your feet. Be yourself and be respectful of others.
