Barranquilla Pride (Marcha del Orgullo LGBTIQ+)
About This Event
The Marcha del Orgullo LGBTIQ+ de Barranquilla y el Atlántico is the city's Pride march. It is organised by the Mesa LGBTI de Barranquilla y el Atlántico, a coalition that includes Caribe Afirmativo, Fundación Arenosa Vive, the Carnaval Gay corporation, Fundación Sky and the diversity groups of Universidad del Norte and Universidad del Atlántico. The first march was held in June 2011, a few months after police raids on gay clubs in 2010 brought people into the street.
It is held on the last Sunday of June, or the Sunday nearest to it. Marchers gather in the early afternoon at Parque Luis Carlos Galán (Calle 72 with Carrera 44) and finish at Plaza de la Paz, where there is a stage and a cultural programme. The 15th march on 29 June 2025 ("15 años de resistencia") drew more than 20,000 people, according to local press; the 16th was on 28 June 2026.
It is a political march with a party feel, not a ticketed festival. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.
