Homosexuality decriminalised in 1890 (Zanardelli Code) — one of the earliest in Europe. Same-sex civil unions ("unioni civili") legal since 5 June 2016 (Cirinnà Law / Law 76/2016), granting near-parity with marriage in most civil matters: inheritance, hospital visitation, next-of-kin, pension survivor rights, residency for foreign partners. Catania, Italy
Catania Pride marches through a Baroque city entirely built from Etna lava stone — a visually unified and dramatically dark urban landscape that makes the rainbow flags and colours of Pride particularly striking. The event is organised by Arcigay Catania and held in June or July. Expected attendance: 8,000–15,000. Catania Pride draws from across eastern Sicily, including Taormina visitors. The march typically routes through Via Etnea — the city's main street, a straight north-south axis pointing directly at the summit of Etna.
Seyahat Rehberi
Gitmeden önce bilmeye değer her şey.
Catania is Sicily's second city and, to the surprise of many visitors, a more active LGBTQ+ destination than the larger Palermo. The city at the foot of Etna — rebuilt almost entirely in Baroque lava stone after the 1693 earthquake — has a university that keeps its population young, an arts and music scene disproportionate to its size, and a gay scene of three to four bars and a sauna that operates with greater openness than elsewhere in the south. Catania Pride in June or July is a growing event.
