Ramons Village Resort

We really enjoyed our time at Ramons. It was our first time in Belize. We ate delicious food and swam in the sea and the resort's pool. A major disappointment was the aquatic plants that contaminated the entire coast. We visited in May. Before you book, be sure to check if that season is over.

We stayed at one of the Steve & Becky’s cottages for 3 nights, which is conveniently located just across the street from the main property. Ramon’s is in excellent location and has friendly staff. However, the cleanliness could be improved. Upon checking in, we noticed mold on the ice bucket and musty smell, especially in the bathroom. We also found a small orange dried snack on one of the beds. While it’s an okay place to stay, if your budget permits, I believe the rooms within the main property appear to be better. We met with other guests at Ramon’s, and they seemed happy with their rooms. Apart from that, they offer a range of activities, such as guided snorkeling and diving, which we also enjoyed. They also provide equipment rentals.

We drove north and south during our stay on Ambergris Caye and there is no better place to stay. Atmosphere=10, staff and service=10, location (walkable to shops/bars/restaurants)=10. It’s the only place we found that has a full time crew getting rid of the sargassum. Smell free beach!! You are missing out if you don’t stay here!!

We had a large infestation of termite larvae in our room and the bar doesn't serve mixed drinks. Attached dock was extremely convenient for excursions though

The short version: our room became infested with bugs, the staff failed to tell us several important details, and they tried to double charge me for the golf cart rental. Only upside was that the resort grounds were really pretty. The long version: when we got to the room it was freezing. Some people may like that but we are used to having the AC set to 71 (it was set to 63). So during the day we turned the temperature up to 72 and when we got back the room had HUNDREDS of termite larvae and adults. All over our bedding, our luggage, everything. They said this happens when you turn the temperature up because they don’t like the cold. In my opinion- that is pertinent information that we should have been made aware of. Then we had to move rooms for one night and wait for the staff to clean the room In the morning which ate into our time for our plans that day. The staff was also just very mid except for the dive staff, they were great. They also did not tell us when we reserved the golf cart that the electric carts won’t make it to secret beach, which is something we wanted to do. Every time we needed to talk to the golf cart rental office there was some problem also. AND they tried to charge me twice for the golf cart. Would not stay here again.

Beautiful grounds, lovely rooms, and the ground staff did an amazing job of cleaning the beach of the sargassum weed. The bar tenders Nate, Ron, Jose and the wait-staff Axcel and Nigel made the beach experience an absolute delight. Sadly the bar tender Kareem made sure his interactions was not to be enjoyed. Oh well....
