About this place Lee's Trail (Stanley Park)

Lee's Trail is the wooded path in Stanley Park, near Second Beach and the pool, that has been Vancouver's best-known outdoor gay cruising spot for decades. It runs off the seawall by the footbridge near the duck pond, and after dark it has historically drawn men into the trees. Its status today is best described as long-standing but faded: it is well known to the public and to park patrols, and activity has declined markedly since the early 2000s. The area carries a heavy memory — in November 2001 Aaron Webster, a gay man, was beaten to death here by a group of attackers, a hate crime that reshaped how Vancouver's community talks about safety in the park. Anyone visiting should treat it with real caution: go with awareness, avoid isolated encounters, and remember that cruising in public parks sits in a legal grey zone and can draw police attention. For most visitors the indoor bathhouses (Steamworks, F212) are the safer, more reliable option.
