Pendray Inn

The outside of the place needs a lot of love. It looks a bit rundown to be honest. However, they were busy rebuilding the front porch steps, so maybe that's the start of a total overhaul, I don't know. The lobby was beautiful, and seemed to be well maintained, as well as the dining areas. Our room was spacious, but not super well maintained. I know it's a Victorian mansion, so things are supposed to look vintage, but they shouldn't look old. There's a difference. When we first arrived, the concierge was not available to check us in. We were told that he was in a meeting, so one of the other staff called the hotel next door to send somebody over to check us in. The boy who checked us in, didn't have a key to the drawer so he couldn't get everything he needed, and he was clearly not super comfortable at this desk. He apologized, and he did the best he could, but management should make sure somebody is at the desk when guests arrive. That was a major fail on their part. The breakfast was lovely. The food items were served on a three tier platter, and most of it was delicious. The only thing we didn't care for was the sausage, but everything else was really good. The service was also really nice.

Wonderful experience! We have one person who is gluten-free, and they went above and beyond, it was the first time he could enjoy everything! it was incredible! We had walked by the emperor and it was very noisy and seemed not anywhere near as could’ve been experience. It also is twice the price. This was absolute perfection! The best teatime we’ve done all around the world!

I knew I had chosen the right place for our Mother’s Day High Tea from the moment I made the online reservation for a patio table. The staff called me promptly to let me know there was construction across the street and suggested moving our party indoors instead. I really appreciated the personal touch and proactive service. Everything during our visit was wonderful. The staff made our High Tea feel truly special, and every menu item was beautifully presented and delicious. The price was a little steep (pun intended), but that’s to be expected for a special occasion in a tourist area. For my mom and me, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a very memorable day. I would absolutely recommend the Pendray Inn.

This building is amazing, so much beautiful history within its walls. The staff could not be more helpful and professional. The only down side is the port construction right across the road but that is beyond their control. They do give you a glass of bubbles or a pot of tea on the house as a small compensation. I would still stay again despite the bit of noise during the day.

Unfortunately, this hotel has a serious mouse infestation. A mouse ran through our room and we also saw one in the lobby. Upon inspection, ther were mouse droppings under the armoire. Management clearly has known about this, but the issue persists.

The building and grounds are nice and the service is a good. The tea room might be good on a cold day, but you certainly don't want to be there when it's hot outside because it gets really hot in there. Nearly unbearable. For some reason they also play extremely loud and high-paced classical music rather than something relaxing more appropriate for tea time. There are plenty of other options for tea in town. So as regular guests to the town. This place is a never again for us. But if you can't get seated anywhere else and you have to have tea, then the food is up to par and you'll generally get the experience you're looking for. Just be mindful to ask to be seated in a room, that's a little more quiet than their main atrium area.

Reviewing: Scottish High Tea This is the second time we have been here for High Tea but the first for Scottish High Tea. Despite the similarity in name there is a great difference in the two! We were absolutely impressed at the variety and once again the exquisite attention to detail through every step of Service... We were greeted kindly, every question answered thoroughly and with an amazing depth of knowledge from our Server! There are some who may say that True Customer Service is a thing now lost to time... For those of you in this category I have just two words for you: Kyra Scott! Kyra took us through every step with great knowledge and attention even to niche areas that would otherwise have been forgiven. She even had personal knowledge of the local area and activities! The rest of the Staff were similarly amazing but Kyra was simply the standout and we cannot thank her enough! Thank you so much, once again, Pendray Inn for creating such an incredible experience that it will remain in our memories until we return... Truly amazing and it is your choice in and support of your Staff that makes all the difference in the world!

What an experience. Very friendly staff, fabulous breakfast and comfortable room. This hotel is right up our alley, small, historic, friendly and great location. Will stay again.
