About this place La Casa de Rubén
La Casa de Rubén is an LGBTIQA+ community and cultural centre on Calle Morelos, next door to Maximiliano in the Centro Histórico. Its website says the civil association was founded in March 2024 in memory of Rubén Salazar Lazareno (1988–2021). It runs four multipurpose rooms, a small library, a psychologist's office and the Como la Flor café-bistro. Reviews from 2025–26 mention workshops such as the Lee & Conecta reading group, theatre nights and social meet-ups, and say the café food is hit-and-miss. Google lists Monday to Saturday 9 am to 8 pm. It's the easiest place in town to meet queer locals outside a bar.
