Great value for money. However, you do need to be careful, as the hotel is located in a somewhat less desirable part of Panama City.
I stayed at the Hotel Caribe in Panama. The first thing I want to highlight is its excellent location. The surrounding neighborhood isn't particularly attractive and might give a bad impression at first, but we felt safe throughout our stay and had no problems in that regard. Upon arrival, the person who opened the door was very friendly, as were the two women who greeted us at reception. However, when we asked where breakfast was served, they couldn't explain why it had been moved and, according to them, they didn't have the information. Later, we went to the bar, and the young man who served us was very friendly and attentive. The problems started that very night. There were no blankets in the room, so we called to request some. We waited for more than two hours, and they never arrived. Since we had to get up at 4:30 a.m. the next day for a walk, we ended up sleeping very poorly, and no one resolved the situation. The reception staff's service at that time was practically nonexistent; the feeling was one of "if you're lucky, it'll be sorted out." Furthermore, the hotel had promised to pack us a breakfast to go (a sandwich and fruit) due to our early departure. When we went to pick it up, we discovered that the receptionist had never notified the kitchen, so nothing was prepared. We filed a complaint that same day. Fortunately, they later brought us blankets and also changed some sheets that had an unpleasant odor. The new receptionist who attended to us did correctly inform us where to have breakfast the next day. The breakfast was delicious, and the dining room staff were very friendly. To top it all off, we got stuck in the elevator. No one answered at reception, and we had to call my brother in Colombia to try to contact the hotel. We also wrote on social media, but received no response. It was a very distressing situation. They finally started working to get us out, but they never informed us what was happening, so I panicked. I even started to think they didn't know we were still trapped there. In conclusion, I found the staff very friendly in some areas of the hotel, especially in the lobby, bar, and dining room. However, the lack of communication, the poor handling of some requests, and the elevator situation made our experience quite negative. Other people may have had a better experience, but this was ours.
Amazing staff, almost 5-star level. Very spacious rooms, great city view from the terrace. A few details could be improved. The breakfast was fantastic, very varied and fresh. I sensed it was made to order, something I didn't see even in higher-end hotels, which guarantees great flavor. If you have the chance, take a break from the city and forget about the hustle and bustle in this very quiet place; it's no wonder many people from other countries come here.
Very nice hotel and comfortable rooms, the breakfast is good but could improve certain things and the location is fine in the morning but at night it requires a bit more attention
From the moment I arrived, I realized the location is terrible. The surrounding area feels unsafe. Upon entering the hotel, I received extremely poor service. After that, I went up to the rooms, which were awful—damp, ancient, and the bed wobbled terribly. To make matters worse, a cleaning person entered the room while we were there. Everything was terrible. I went up to the terrace for the welcome cocktail, and it was just flavored soda. The only redeeming quality was the view from the top floor, but everything else was awful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
It's a very basic hotel, and its location wasn't ideal, as it's near areas that feel somewhat unsafe. Unfortunately, our experience was negative: while we were sleeping, someone entered our room without permission. The most disappointing thing was that the hotel never apologized or showed any interest in properly addressing the situation. For this reason, we wouldn't stay there again, nor would we recommend it.
