UPDATED JULY 2026. Stayed for another 2 weeks at this awesome hotel. They had just recovered from a fire, which many people reviewing this hotel recently have given them some very negative feedback. I've chosen to update my review to put things straight. The Chelsea is a clean comfortable hotel with amazing staff. The location is as the best you can get for a Manhattan stay. The area is quiet and safe. I recommend staying here to everyone I meet and after my June/July stay, I will continue to do so. Love the Chelsea Inn. Stay Awesome ❤️. . Absolutely amazing hotel. Location is perfect. Rooms are small , but clean. No elevator, so you have to use the stairs. Who cares ! It's good exercise. Stay here and enjoy NYC. Update May 2025. Stayes here again for 11 nights. It's like coming home. Staff are extremely helpful and really nice. You're made to feel welcome and that you're valued. As always, room was perfect. Don't believe any bad reviews this place gets. I've stayed here 3 times now and every time has been awesome. Already planning my next trip back !
The Chelsea Inn Hotel is a very welcoming place with very kind staff making you feel like you’re at home. The location is wonderful because you can walk anywhere since , “it’s the heart of the New York.” I also really appreciate the reasonable/good prices for clean comforting sized rooms including a bathroom. I would highly recommend it.
This hotel is in a great location. The staff are friendly, and the room is clean. We could easily walk to nearby stores and the park, and it is also close to public transportation stations. The only downside is that there is no elevator, so we had to carry our suitcases up and down the stairs. Overall, it was a good stay, and the price was reasonable too. We would probably choose to stay here again next time.
The hotel is super centrally located, my simple room with a private bathroom was very clean and excellent. The reception staff are very helpful.
We stayed at the hotel a couple of nights in the beginning of March. During our stay, a fire started at the bar next door around midnight, we had to evacuate. Nobody from the staff was on location at the moment, the guests all stayed outside for 2 hours without any information on what was happening. We were asked to find another place to stay as the hotel was no longer safe. We asked for a refund for the 2 nights left, but the hotel refused to pay us back.
We had booked 4 nights at the Chelsea Inn via Holiday Check and arrived on 17.5.2026 to find the doors locked, as the Work Permit Department of Buildings had closed the building due to structural defects.
I booked a room with a private bathroom for six nights two months in advance. The day before leaving for New York, the hotel informed me that a nearby restaurant had burned down a few weeks earlier and my room had been closed, coincidentally the day before leaving. My wife, my five-year-old daughter, and I found ourselves stranded on the street the day before leaving Europe for New York, without a hotel. They didn't offer us an alternative or a suggestion, no further clarification, nothing. Reliability in business is too important; respect people. Good luck.
