About the event

Celebrate PRIDE at Duke Gardens! Bring your own picnic and enjoy the outdoors as you connect with human and beyond-human queer community. Join Stormie Daie for story time. Learn about queer ecology at activity tables where you can create a creature or make a mini-zine to write, draw and collage. Bring your own picnic blanket, find a bench or take a stroll through the garden. This event is in collaboration with the LGBTQ Center of Durham, as part of Durham Pride Week 2026.
Frozen juice pops will be available while supplies last, plus a limited amount of pizza donated by Pride Sponsor Pie Pushers for anyone unable to bring your own picnic.
This event is for all ages; come on your own or with family & friends. Rain or shine! If it rains, the same activities will move inside the Doris Duke Center for an indoor picnic.
Fee: Free; no registration required.
Parking: Free parking provided in Duke Gardens’ main parking lot.
Location: Gateway Gardens Event Lawn
Accessibility: This event takes place outdoors and requires traveling on a combination of gently sloping paved paths and grass lawns. Accessible parking and bathrooms are available onsite.
