Parking can be a challenge but the staff is outstanding

Hilton Garden Inn Iowa City Downtown did not disappoint. Clean, kind staff, easy parking, superior restaurant and bar (Vue Rooftop), and top notch management.

Very clean room, their restaurant is awesome, and great views of Iowa City

We had a very pleasant two-night stay at this well-located hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable with ample storage. The bathroom is spacious. We particularly enjoyed the bar on the 12th floor with its sheltered outdoor terrace and lovely views of the city. The menu is varied and quite well-prepared.

Perfectly located downtown, friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet

Friendly staff, food was good. Parking garage was being renovated, so I had to park a couple blocks away and hike, but hopefully that's temporary. It's in a crowded downtown area, so it was a process just getting in the door to drop off my luggage with only 2 parking spots out front. I had to circle the block during rush hour waiting for a spot to open up. The tornado sirens went off about 11 p.m., and the speaker in the room announced, "Tornado!", but no other information was forthcoming. I decided that I would rather die than hobble downstairs from the 10th floor in my pajamas, so I just stayed put.

Hidden fees on top of hidden fees. Upon check-in I was given parking passes and instructions on how to access the adjacent parking garage. At no time was it explained that these parking passes were not complimentary. Upon check-out, I was charged an additional $15 for parking. This was clearly hidden. Additionally the hotel breakfast is $15 per person, while most other Hilton locations offer a free breakfast. The included WiFi is dreadfully slow but no worries for an additional $9, you can upgrade to premium WiFi. This location nickel and dimes you at every turn. Roof top bar looked cool. Nice hotel, but buyer beware

Great location, cutting cost measures makes it a bit steep of a price per-day. Reception represents the hotel. Tish was super helpful and friendly and very attentive, greeting everyone that passes by with a "good morning" and a smile 😊

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Iowa City while my son was a patient at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, and unfortunately the hotel experience added stress to an already difficult situation. The location was great and very convenient for getting back and forth to the hospital — but that was honestly the only positive part of the stay. I was surprised that parking wasn’t included, especially given the price of the room. On top of that, the front desk staff was not friendly or welcoming. Every interaction felt rushed and unhelpful. Breakfast was another disappointment. Every single option — even cold cereal — cost extra. For a Hilton brand hotel, that felt unreasonable. The cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. There was mold growing on the shower curtain, The tub and shower had hair from a previous guest, And the AC wouldn’t go lower than 68°, but the room felt more like 73°, stale and uncomfortable. I tried contacting the front desk to get these issues fixed, but nothing was handled. I ended up having to reach out to Hilton customer service, which took forever. Instead of solving the problem, they repeatedly asked whether I was a rewards member — as if that would change the experience I had. I’m still waiting to hear back through the mail. Overall, this stay was frustrating at a time when I needed comfort and reliability. I would not choose this hotel again unless major improvements are made.
