This is a famous bookstore in downtown. I'd seen it often on social media, so I decided to check it out. The first floor has the feel of a stylish used bookstore, but the atmosphere completely changes when you go up to the second floor. From the famous tunnel made of books to every corner, it's a truly picturesque space. However, I wanted to buy a stylish book that would make a nice interior decoration, but perhaps because it mainly sells used books, I couldn't find much that I was looking for. I'd recommend going there more to enjoy the artistic atmosphere than to actually find a book.

A Cautionary Tale for Authors Considering This Retailer In October 2025, I entered into a book placement agreement with The Last Bookstore LA for my novel, The DeepFake Conspiracy. I supplied 1,000 copies at my own expense. Eight months later, I have yet to receive a single royalty payment despite repeated follow-ups, multiple broken promises, and a missed payment deadline of June 15, 2026 — a date their own representative Jeremy Horton committed to in writing. The agreement specified quarterly sales reports and payments. Neither has been delivered consistently or on time. Requests for a face-to-face Zoom call have been repeatedly deflected. When a sales report finally arrived months late, it was not accompanied by any payment or a credible timeline for one. I value this bookstore's reputation and did not enter this relationship lightly. But authors considering a placement arrangement here should be aware that contractual obligations may not be honored, and that getting straight answers about your sales and royalties can be an exhausting, months-long battle. I hope this review prompts the store to make things right promptly. — Dr. Dave Chatterjee, Author
