South Beach is the heart of Miami Beach and famous worldwide for its white sand, turquoise water, and lively atmosphere. The beach is wide, clean, and perfect for walking, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the ocean view. When you head toward the beach through Lummus Park, the stretch of green really welcomes you. You do have to walk quite a bit to reach the sand—it’s surprisingly far from Ocean Drive. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large distance between a main road and the beach before, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Palm trees, colorful lifeguard towers, and the Art Deco skyline create the classic Miami postcard scene. Whether you visit for sunrise or sunset, the vibe here is always energetic. Parking: Take my words: Park at ‘Miami Beach Parking Garage [7th St]’, its your best bet

I stayed at a condo on top of the Shelborne hotel. It was beautiful. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the city. You open the back door and you are on the beach. It was beautiful very very friendly people everything very clean beautiful place.

Beautiful beach.  Never too crowded.  Very clean. Don't expect a pristine white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters like the Maldives. The iconic South Beach neighbourhood is home to sandy strands, swaying palms and the pastel-coloured Art Deco buildings that have become synonymous with this iconic destination and render it so undeniably photogenic.

I used to live in the area years ago and I notice that south beach has significantly gone down hill. There was so much construction and debris and broken sidewalks and pot bulls but it was hard to navigate the area properly. I went in using the bright line crane but yet there was nobody there to help navigate you to the downtown or the south beach area. More than half of the stores were out of business in the downtown area. We walked over to Bayside shopping mall on the water, and it seems to be suffering as well. We then took the #4 bus to South Beach. We walked around and saw everything. But due to the construction there were many streets you could not walk down. We went to the actual beach and swam in the water for a bit. The water was beautiful, but miami really needs to add more public access with showers and bathrooms so that people can enjoy a day at the beach. Every single business and hotel and store wanted to charge extra for anybody wanting to use a facility. The prices are astronomical! The look of South Beach is no longer art Deco. And exotic,...it is run down dirty and expensive.

Great days on the beach at the Fontainebleau. Excellent job by all those who helped with the chairs ,umbrellas and towels. A special shout out to our server Rachel who took care of us so well during our stay.

The one BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was the Bouchere Brothers monopoly of beach chair rentals on South Beach. We stayed from May 19-May 23, 2025, and each day we went on the wonderful South Beach sand, only to get a spoiler alert tha a beach umbrella, with 2 chairs had skyrocketed to $65, ABSURD! We were there in 2020, 2021, and 2023 when the price for same rental was $20-$25. We of course purchase an umbrella, and 2 chairs at walgreens for $50, and used them each day we were there. But other tourist's vacations might have been spoiled by this PRICE GOUGING by Bouchere brothers.

Entertaining show of half naked fit bodies, but useless for actual swimming. The waves keep on crashing on the shallow shoreline. You can wade in but be careful! Mostly this area is only good for people watching!

If they're trying to drive people away from the city, they succeeded with us. For miles the public parking on the streets is closed off with the exception of areas where private businesses are offering valet. The beach closes at 6 pm which is really lame, opens at 5 am...I mean come on, what stupid hours. I recommend completely avoiding this neighborhood.

Review of South Beach, Miami – 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ South Beach, Miami, is an absolute gem and a must-visit destination! The beach itself is breathtaking—pristine white sands, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. What stood out the most was how clean and well-maintained the entire area is. Whether strolling along Ocean Drive, relaxing at Lummus Park, or exploring the Art Deco district, everything felt safe and welcoming. The mix of vibrant nightlife, fantastic restaurants, and stunning coastal views made the experience even more enjoyable. I had an amazing time here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Miami. Not to be missed!
