Palace Bar occupies a corner of Ocean Drive with a direct view of Lummus Park and the Atlantic Ocean beyond — the most photographed gay bar position in Miami and one of the most dramatically situated gay venues in the United States. The terrace performances are the draw: drag queens perform live shows several times daily on the elevated terrace above the Ocean Drive pavement, visible from the street, the park, and the beach. The energy is celebratory in the specific South Beach way — sun, skin, cocktails, and the perpetual carnival atmosphere of one of the world's most famous holiday streets. The Palace Brunch on weekends is a Miami institution: bottomless mimosas, drag performances, and the art deco backdrop of Ocean Drive's 1930s hotels. The bar attracts a mixed crowd that includes both dedicated LGBTQ+ visitors and straight tourists drawn in by the spectacle. During Miami Beach Pride in April, Palace's Ocean Drive terrace is the epicentre of the celebration — the performances extend through the day and the crowd becomes a permanent fixture on the block.
