Gay Miami nightlife mostly clusters in South Beach, just off Washington Avenue, between 8th and 14th Streets. There's also a growing mainland scene in Wynwood and North Miami. It's not the biggest gay scene in the US, but it's walkable, dense, and stays open very late. It really kicks off during circuit weekends like Winter Party and White Party.

South Beach — Washington Avenue

The core of the scene is on Miami Beach, a few blocks from Washington Avenue. You can walk between dance bars and drag cabarets.

    • Palace Bar — The Palace is an Ocean Drive institution. It's known for sidewalk shows, Sunday T-dances, and beachfront drag brunch. Get a table out front and watch the queens work the street.
    • Lust — Lust is a South Beach gay club. It has go-go dancers, drag, and themed party nights.

    Wynwood and the mainland

    Away from the beach, the scene skews younger, artier, and more brunch-focused than club-focused.

    • R House Wynwood — R House is Wynwood's flagship gay spot. It's an art-filled restaurant and bar famous for its high-energy weekend drag brunch, with the show spilling between tables. Book ahead.
    • Azucar — Azucar brings a Latin vibe. It has drag shows, ladies' nights, and Spanish-language party nights.
    • CLUBBOI — ClubBoi in North Miami is a long-standing bar and club. It has a strong Black gay following and hip-hop party nights.

Also worth knowing

The Corner — The Corner is a mainstream late-night Downtown bar, not specifically gay. But it does draw a mixed, queer-friendly after-hours crowd. Handy if you're out past last call elsewhere.

Pool parties and daytime

Miami has a real pool-bar culture. Gay-popular hotels like the Axel and Gaythering have pool and social scenes during the day. During circuit weekends, the pool parties are as central as the club nights. Expect shorts, sunscreen, and day passes.

Timing and practical notes

Clubs stay open very late: showing up before midnight is early, and weekend nights can push to 5 AM. Cocktails are $15–20 at the main spots, and clubs charge cover on weekends and during events. The Washington Avenue area is busy and well-lit at night; use normal city precautions.
