Just a review of the incredible inconvenience in trying to check availability and book a room at this B&B. While it looks charming, it's not in the least bit user friendly to even get basic information like availability of dates and what the rates are. This requires a phone call, as the website is NOT a functioning B&B website and offers no information on rates or availability, let alone the ability to book online. So used to online booking are most of us, that having to make a phone call, and then having no one answer the phone or call back in a timely matter, is off-putting and a poor use of my time. While I'm waiting around to hear from these folks, I could have gone ahead and booked our stay elsewhere and had it locked in. Given it's a holiday season booking, I didn't appreciate not receiving a call back for most of the day, and then only after a SECOND phone call. The phone itself is off-putting, as it's just a woman saying her nickname and offering no evidence that this is the Creole Cottage we've reached, or that it's a business! Very unprofessional. My second phone call questioned whether the phone number posted online was indeed the Cottage since the answering message was so unprofessional and unclear. THEN I got a call back. The person said she was on the road. OK, there's no one else to handle bookings? What about the man who lives next door that all the reviewers mention? The response that she "thought" she had room was vague enough to also be offputting — did she really? Would she later say "oops", I was on the road and didn't have my calendar? As it was she wasn't looking at a calendar, she was guessing. She thought my arrival date, a Monday, was a Saturday. Then came the rates, nearly doublethe rates of all the other B&B's I was looking at. That, too, was offputting. Especially given the poor service, unprofessionalism, and poor first impression. Sorry, but I was so turned off by this person (I don't even know if she is the owner or what), I declined to go ahead with the booking. If you enjoy being jerked around and made to jump through unnecessary hoops just to make a simple reservation that every other lodging option in town offers online and easily, then go for it. If this seems a waste of your time and a real annoyance, as well as overpriced ($250 a night plus tax in case you're wondering), then book elsewhere. I know I will.

The most relaxing stay ever! The charm of this home is incredible, the bed was so comfortable, linens top notch. Everything was well appointed and the welcoming snacks, drinks and stocked refrigerator was so very thoughtful. Lovely screened back porch lured me down to the small pier on the beautiful Cane River. I truly felt like Creole Cottage was my home away from home. Charlotte, thank you so very much for all you did. It was amazing!
