Join us for this cheeky, historical must-see tour on sexuality over time, led by the entertaining Prof. Andrew Lear of OscarWildeTours.

Think you know what you're looking at when you visit The Met? Think again.

Why are the naked men in classical art so… modestly endowed? Why have artists depicted women's breasts in such dramatically different ways over the centuries? And what can these artistic choices reveal about changing ideas of beauty, masculinity, sexuality, and desire?

Join Prof. Andrew Lear of Oscar Wilde Tours, an engaging classics scholar and art historian, for Unhung Heroes of the Met—a witty, eye-opening exploration of the naked body and the surprising stories hidden in plain sight at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Inspired by Lear's popular NPR Studio 360 interview, this tour traces these ideals through centuries of Western art, exploring how artists used the human body to express cultural values—and discovering intriguing exceptions along the way.

During this private, two-hour museum tour, we'll uncover how sex, gender, desire, and coded sexuality shaped the art we admire—and how a closer look can transform our understanding of the museum's works.

Smart, provocative, and full of surprises, Unhung Heroes of the Met offers a fresh perspective on art history, cultural ideals, and the naked human body.

Reserve your spot now—this tour will sell out! Professor Lear’s next adventures with Oscar Wilde Tours take him overseas until 2027, so don’t miss this rare NYC opportunity.
