About this place Stonewall Youth

Stonewall Youth is an Olympia nonprofit founded in 1991 for LGBTQ2S+ young people aged 21 and under in Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties. It runs peer support groups, drop-in space, advocacy work and social programming, much of it led by young people themselves. The organization is based downtown on State Ave NE. Adults new to the area can use it as a first contact for local LGBTQ+ resources, but its services are aimed at youth. Check the website for current drop-in times before visiting.

Stonewall Youth is a great place to find your community! I highly recommend checking it out if you have a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon to waste.

I commend this organization. As a youth-led organization, Stonewall Youth excels at providing meaningful opportunities for youth to shine. Their community drag performances have given many youth a platform to try something new and shine. Drop-ins provide a safe, affirming, and welcoming environment for youth to be themselves and shine. Stonewall Youth is a compassionate part of the community that provides a brave space for youth to explore their identities, learn more about themselves, and grow.

I attended an event here with my partner and our kids. It was great, and everyone we met was, too! Thanks for hosting us!

I am writing this review with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency. This organization presents itself as a safe haven for vulnerable LGBTQ+ youth, a mission our community desperately needs. However, the reality of what occurs here is a far cry from that promise. Instead of a sanctuary, it has become a place of profound danger. The environment on their property is completely uncontrolled. There are consistent and credible concerns about serious criminal activity, including the exploitation and prostitution of teenagers. Assaults and drug overdoses are not isolated incidents but alarmingly frequent occurrences. The staff appears either unable or unwilling to address these crises. This internal negligence is perfectly mirrored by their external carelessness. The property is consistently overflowing with garbage, which spills out into the surrounding area. It's a public health hazard that is actively harming our local wildlife and polluting the nearby marina. It is a clear sign of the complete lack of respect this organization has for both the young people come there and the community it inhabits. This place is failing in every aspect of its mission. It is failing our community. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this organization to anyone. I urge parents, donors, and community leaders to look closely at what is truly happening here. This is not a safe place.

The youth drag show benefit was SO MUCH fun! Everyone was kind and I am more than happy to donate to help kids!
